Tactical situations are constantly updated via MADL. The F-35 that is not using its radar, can get a complete radar picture from one that is, this allows tactical flexibility…Similarly an F-35 that is using all his IR sensors to find and locate a target, can compare the information with a SAR MAP generated by some other F-35. Not all fighters need to be emitted if anything the MADL allows you to decrease emissions by having many aircraft operating in LPI or passive modes to build the detailed SA picture stealthily..The concept actually increases stealthy operations of the group rather then diminishing it. The only reason why the MADL exists along side of the Link 16 that is NATO standard, is to give the F-35 the capability to have a much better, more secure, faster DL for stealthy ops.

Of course the original plan to put MADL onto the VLO fleet was a bit premature, but once MADL is operational, and deployed, this could be done (earlier they were trying to do this, even before MADL was fully mature and operational).

I know Bring. Talked last week with a recently retired head engineer on combat systems about Tragedac program. The aim of this program is to network passive sensors inside a patrol (i intently wrote sensors, not tactical situation). He ponted that the main issue would be synchronization, and suggested that it would probably be achieved via GPS/Galileo. He said that next dev. Should be to network radars, one being active, communicating emited waveforms to other planes using their own radars passively so as to catch waves deflexted by ennemy planes includibg stealthy shaped ones.

There are also RAF pilots qualified on F18. In fact, one of them, Flight Ltt Collins is the first euro pilot training top gun course atm.

key point is do madl allow to exchange tactical situations or sensor datas before computation? Because if you can directly exchange data from radars and properly sinchronize them, you create a multi radar and stealth is over.

So, basically madl will do what Gripen already do a is far behind what Rafale will do with tragedac?

Seems like a less than credible rumor given the long established track record these types have in the region. The F-15SA in particular will be the third distinct variant of that jet sold to the Saudis to date.

I’m not sure about F15 (and i dont even know if it was ever tested in Qatar), but it has been clearly stated many times the F18 had probs with high temp/ low pressure ambiance.

Yes and no. Suitability for first day strike is defined by the capability to deliver weapons… Atm F16 has a proven one. Not (yet) F35.
