Because the Saudi are Sunni and the Iranians are Shia. Both are fighting proxy wars elsewhere in th Middle East.

Moving back onto the topic … it seems to me to boil down to the effect that canards have on the frontal radar cross section and how that can affect tactics.

    Regards

Maybe less then expected on Forums if you consider just released Boeing’s view of FA-XX :

My two cents in what is in my opinion a over heated debate. Vialley Riller states in his recent article that he has seen outer wing stations opened.

Already posted on another thread, but still fun : application of low tech european EW suites : lock on 6 o’clock using passive sensors by Vianney Riller Jr

According to JSR, Samsung business model is really weird : they buy overpriced low tech EU made chips to put in their cell phones… (STmicorelectronics)

There arent so many datas about RBE2. Here is what i have
Range : “more than 1.5x PESA” (official)
Range : 150+ kmw vs fighter sized target (press estimate)
    Range : +/- 200 kms (press estimate)
Module number : around 1000 (official, not the 848 stated after counting on dummy’s photo)
peak power : 13 kW (press release, but cant remember where, so cautious)
    Azimuth : +/- 70° (official)
number of targets : tracked 40, engaged 8 (press release)
number of targets : “3 times more target then previous radar” (official)
Weight : 20 more kgs then PESA, plug and play exchange with PESA (2 hours, official)
As you see it not so many things…
Hope i didnt say anything wrong or stupid.

I’ve read it also. Would be logical as Taurus isnt a game changer vs stormshadow (although it has advantages)

“Duel over the Pacific” scenario
We have no clues about RCS, Radar power output, quality of the filtering, capabilities of respective EW suites etc… And we still find ppl to say that X will beat Y hands down… Childish.

If you are referring to encrypted two-way datalinks, it does, even Su-27S with TKS-2-27 datalink has it. If you are referring to tightbeam communication no operational aircraft has it.

While datalinks, off-board guidance to target, info feed, handing over the missile guidence, etc are relatively new features on most western aircraft, but those were already present -albeit on a simpler form- on MiG-23, Su-15 via Lazur datalink.

Gripen E/F will have tight beam datalink. Very soon. ANd once again, saying that datalinks are recent for western is wrong, Swesish were VERY advanced on that point with Viggen.

I would be surprised if there are no RCS reduction efforts on the Rafale pylons, drop tanks and pods. And modern missiles are of course quite low RCS.

    There are.

    -Irbis has 20kW power output. RBE-2 has 838 modules * 8watt = 6.7 kW. (3 times power output)

The famous 838 count was made from a dummy radar displayed at Le Bourget 2011. This dummy was quted as a fake BEFORE the exhibition by a DGA engineer. If you take a look at FoxThree (Dassault publication about Rafale), you will see that photo, and another one, jammed. Guess why?
In the very last A&C, there is a whole part about RBE2AESA. Exact module number is undisclosed, but roughly 1000.
I could give tenth of such examples.
It was officially demonstrated that RBE2AESA could lock a M2K (rear) at 140 kms. (same journal, same issue). That deosnt fit with your numbers.

Where did you get that 8W output value/module?
