Why not so? Acoustic Atlantique 2 system is way ahead of Orion’s anw (see Malaysian tests…)
Any weapon that is GPS guided are vunerable to be jammed these days . This is probably the Achilee’s heel of AASM which for some strange reasons manufacturers here in the US are un willing to address.
You mean the very same manufacturers that completely missed the “ramjet gen” missiles?
Gripen E/F will use scattered conformal broadband antennas. Accurancy not public.
Really?
Woncering, is this a F35 thread? :):)
No SAAB wont, they’re hooked in NeuroN devs…
But with a WAY larger RCS…
We’re turning around…
A video of the second Phantom Eye Flight :

I love that one…
Cherry Ripe: don’t forget that Atlantique is still in service.
And doing fine job in Mali, incluuding Wescam turret added…
Wondering what would prevent them form so… Captor is a fairly efficient radar, and those weapons were integrated to T1 no? Or am i fully wrong? Help Scorpion!
I have a stupid question…
F4E vs F1CT ok, but latest german F4 vs F2000 isnt a bit diff?
.Will send a personal request to former Atlantique 2 head engineer to see if he wanna say something
If we start using that barometer, there may not be anyone left for the US to buy weapons from 🙂 …
/troll mode on
Buy Dassault products
/troll mode off
The RAF uses Hellfire on Reapers too. Looks a bit like someone decided that adding a couple of GBU-24s or similar to the standard reaper load sounded nice — so not that left-field, though it seems like an impossibly heavy load to fit in the internal bays of a supposedly 8000kg MTOW vehicle.
Despite earlier claims of Taranis being a dogfight-capable drone, no mention of a2a weapons. Possibly a hint they’ve decided that was a little too ambitious at this stage.
Technology demonstrator, certainly. Proof of concept? Maybe a little more. BAE seem eager to talk up Taranis as Britain’s Tornado replacement, though the first goal for the project will be to persuade the RAF that drones can actually do that job. More EAP than Replica I think, at least.
I think we’ll know a little more when the 450 Meuros given to BAE and Dassault in order to study EFCAS project will have been spent…
That is the essence of the discussion. If their is overall superiority in Network reach, and quality then even a force equipped with the F-16 can handle an equal force of F-35’s.
Which is (i’m also talking about some posts above) a major concern for participants countries. F35 may be a plane that suits US need, but not necessarily all participants as heavily relying on US support “on battleground” therefore leading to even more dependancy to US.
What makes AASM unique is its low level release – rocket enabled pop up capability and off flightpath / boresite attack capability. Don’t see anything similar with PGM 500 which is more like on of those Israeli dumb to smart and range extension kits.
Absolutely agree. In the end, AASM (specially with tri seeker incoming according to Air&Cosmos) main strength is its versatility. Main weak point being price. All n all, far from a “niche ” weapon as advertised by a well reknown journalist on some places :dev2:. It definitely has its flaws/limitations/compromises (whatever one call it), but also its awesome capabilities.
As usual, everything depending on intended use and mission profile.
