Mica NG will be internal compatible (if someone pays of course, but the capability is taken into account). Now, LOAL have many advantages as compared to LOBL for short range.
Edit. A stirling cooling engine is much more effective than a battery.

Do Switzerland or Finland have access to a secure satellite communication system with Ka or W band transponders? If not, then SATCOM doesn’t help.

Dunno, but ot Syracuse IV yes. Part of the package. You know, all these independence maniacs we are in Europe….

2000 is builtlike a tank.If they are in proper state, just stamp and they will go up to much more than 8000h.
Edit Mica NG will be integrated on M2K (not with full capacities i guess)

The performance of fighter engines are the result of many trade off. Some of the major one are reliability, fuel economy, and thrust. Given the pressure that is being placed upon F35 to get costs down. That may have resulted in slight reduction in average thrust to gain advantage in other two areas that reduce overall costs. Overall I find it impossible to really judge performance of engines based upon claims by manufacture because we have no idea what the trade offs were made in coming up with those figures. That’s why you can have two engines types that appear to perform close to each other by stats but in real world you find one clearly better then other.

Furthermore, these performances are often measured using a not moving bench, at sea level, 25°C etc. Values greatly vary depending on speed of the aircraft, altitude, barometric pressure, etc.

Since the F-35 will have SATCOM before the first Swiss F-35 is to be delivered, it’s a non-issue.

othing to do with switzerland. Finland? Maybe.

No secured satcom is better than no satcom. They will be ready for finnish and swiss delivery.btwthey take the form of an tilting AESA antenna under the chinee, allowing Rafale to joins Syracuse system whatever its position on the globe or so.

i meant thenths of KG, sorry. I seems weird, but it is true. That is why saying the exact eight of a brand new built plane is often made only after weihing it.

You know you will very often see 10ths of g of dirrerence between same types? (e.g. paint weight etc.)

obviously french air force does not agree with you, but, hey, what would they know, eh?

FYI, Every F-35 has a UHF satcom from ball aerospace. The deferment for compatibility was due to DoD switching satellite networks, apparently that constellation was not ready when planning what capabilities the F-35 would have at IOC and got bumped to block 4 as Spud said.

That is IF you have a “ball aerospace”. Maybe you mean a lighter then air airship? The present result is F-35 do not have any satcom. It will come with block4. In itself, it is not redhibitory. No plane is perfect

I would not call the APG-82(v)1 a “new” radar and certainly not “newer” than the APG-81, especially given its TR2 update with Block 3i.

The APG-82(v)1 is an APG-79 backend with a APG-63(v)3 frontend and the APG-82(v)1 was originally named the APG-63(v)4.

So what? Main qualities of a radar are sensibility, discrimination, resistivity towards EW etc. How is a new back antenna really affecting those parameters? The real answer is we do not know.

I am not sure that an AESA radar is such an essential thing in dogfight, but nevermind? Hint. Who sintalled the first AESA radars on their fighters? not US, sorry.

No competition will ever tell the whole truth. Industrial, operational and political needs are so different from every country. i sometimes gate heated due to what i perceive as fanboyism . There is othing such as a perfect weapon platform.
