Some more details ? Okay, here we are, here we go

wingradiator housing

detailshot wheelbay

maingeararrestinghook …. dont know the right term in english

Buchon Fighter Factory
… the left wing in its “original” shape, will say in color

one of the typical spanish features. The 20mm Hispano mount. The aileron pushrod “goes around” the cannon. Tricky construction

Okay, lets talk about the Buchon
As you might know, this running project belongs to Jerry Yagens Fighter Factory Virginia. The task is to restore the airframe and convert it with a Daimler Benz DB605 to a “Gustav”. Of course German registration and all those things…. lot of work, but a stunning project
I first “met” the fuselage in 2007 at the old shop in Freiburg, but now the project was started by Jerry Yagen

not so funny ….. clean the wings and wash all the colors off. Hard work, sometimes with a toothpick

good to see the Spanish wingstructure with two spars

gunport … this was/is the gunmount for the Hispano 20mm cannon, one reason for the two-spar-wingstructure

looks like a ship, not like a fighter

again some pics from the whole thing …. really a beauty and I hope I can soon take a seat in the back cockpit

thats easy to answer … I had only three (!) flights in my life (!) with old aircraft… multi engine Do28 Skyservant ..long ago, as I defended the country … and the two flights with a single engine in 2011: in January an old Piper Archer 😀 Elmar Meier at the sticks (I was allowed to take the controls for about 30 minutes) and in summer a beautiful flight over the Black Forrest with the magnificant P-51D “Lucky Lady VII”, Christoph Noethiger at the controls

really a beauty !

Btw. the “Flying Nightmare” is for sale ….. just follow that link http://www.max-alpha-aviation.de/eng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=56 …… hope that she will not leave the country. I think I need some money…
Hi Matthias,
what is the machine in the backround of the Tiger-Moth >>> could it be Yak-3U F-AZIM??
Greetings
Stefan
right you are. Marc made a short visit at MeierMotors doing a testflight with the Fw190, and this seemed to be his taxiplane 😀
Great pics as always, Matthias. Thanks for posting. Steady progress on this project. Do you know when it is intended to be airworthy / have the maidenflight? Spring 2012? Just curious. I bet the Schuelke family is eager to fill the gap due to losing BBD. Do you know if they intend to get another P-51 or even (re-)build (a new) BBD?
Michael
Hi Michael, the TF-51 should fly this year, thats the plan of the team !
The engine lies byside, bodywork is already done, wing is ready … *hmmm we will see. The plans of the Schuelke family ? Really dont know.
