Msphere, there were no offers as it were to sell the F-35 to India. The F-35 would not have been compliant with MMRCA requirements in 2007. The latest L-M initiated offer to provide information/briefing on the F-35 was a carrot for the F-16. “Buy the F-16 line and the F-35 might be on the table in the future”. There would be considerable difficulty getting congressional approval to export the F-35 to India. In short, there was no offer. It was a diplomatic manuver that India saw through, and rejected. The Indian press made it out to be something it wasn’t. But no, it would take an F-16/18 deal, a building of trust and estabilishment of security agreements to get any official approval for an F-35 deal. India was never going to approve such an arrangement. The Rafale contract gives some clear indication of how India views defense contracts. 15 years from now if U.S.-India defense relationship continues to warm, then it might be possible. The trust is not there on either side as of now.
The picture’s caption is correct. It is an IDF (Indigenous Defense Fighter, not Israeli Defense Forces).
Yeah, I’m sure IDF fighter is exactly what they googled. How that applies to a story about Israeli defense purchases is the issue, no?
Spot the problem in this story:
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/09/15/big-us-military-aid-package-to-israel-has-strings-attached.html
well, not in the story itself but a pretty stupid mistake at the top of the page.
Assuming the 117 has roughly the same dimensions as the AL-31 (five meters long- though the nozzle is likely longer), and the length of the T-50 is known. Wouldn’t it be easy to estimate duct length compared to the engine to confirm whether we are looking at the IGV attached to the LPC?
I really don’t get the point of threads like this other than a magnet for dumb arguements.
A coffee vs tea thread would be about as useful.
Despite my nation’s preference, I’m taking tea. Cheaper unit cost, more effective in close proximity to sinuses, somewhat less effective caffeine delivery system.
You don’t think that there is an aerodynamic price to pay for more obvious S ducting ?
No, obviously. Why did manufacturers start using S-ducts? (P.S., it was not in military aircraft) It had nothing to do with stealth or NCTR.
Aerodynamic ducts, Photoshop. S-duct arguments. Did some other forum shut down recently? The outbreak of stupidity and flame posting is at a new high.
Yes there is.
Really, do tell. It was shelved look it up for yourself. In AdlA service on Rafale will not be able to receive information from the missile.
Btw, not that a two way link offers some massive advantage anyway.
I never said I did, I just set out to show your dishonest way of asking anyone for proof that anyone else said. And when that people points you where some data could be fetched, you refuse to go look.
Nic
No, Nic that was the argument you were having with GerryA.
i really shouldnt be arsed with replying or even reading your utter drivel,
it was initially intended to make a special meteor for rafale with 1-way DL,
but french decided instead to upgrade to 2-way and thus only one standard meteor will be produced,
i dont know if the rafale fleet is upgraded as of yet but it will be when meteor enter service in french AF
Wrong, the Rafale is unable to make use of the Meteor’s 2 way datalink that has not changed, and there are is no timetable to correct that.
So here is the order : Picard put some made up figures on his blog => Y-20 quote Picard blog => I prove that it is BS => Halloween said these figures can be found on defesanet but give no actual links => i cant find anything that supports Picard claims
I simply state the facts that Halloween always pretend to be mysterious when asked for evidence
Halloweene never claimed that Picard’s claims were accurate. All he said was that you can look up the articles Vianney wrote about Rafale’s performance. I think Halloweene is intelligent enough to know Picard’s information is invented.
You SAID that it’s BS, you didn’t prove anything.
I did “prove” it… And have several times when people bring up Picard’s B.S. You can believe them if it makes you feel better though.
For those interested, here is a good read on the SR-71 design evolution and RCS reduction:
http://enu.kz/repository/2009/AIAA-2009-1522.pdf
No ,it was not SO different.IT was just A COMPLETELY ,ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY other Missile.
Different seeker, different control surfaces, different warhead, different control engine all with not any US component inside: only thing that was taken from Sparrow was the external body frame for compatibility with existing launchers.
For the rest Sparrow M was a fine one, just arrived five years later.
Out of morbid curiosity, do you know the story of how the Aspide was designed? The Sparrow M and the Aspide were built by different companies, with different components ( same control surfaces, btw). Both the Skyflash and Aspide offered some advantages compared to the “F”. Raytheon was a partner on Aspide, and the Sparrow M incorporated that technology.
I guess you misunderstood.. I am not looking at finding out their true identity rather than point out what stupid, dumb and laughable reasoning is being used by some to promote the F-35. And those same clowns will then demand pages of evidence for every line one writes..
I would say the difference is that Picard is trying to offer ( completely made up) empirical evidence of performance. Pilot testimony is subjective. In that survey, I did not see any pilot claiming the F-35 could out accelerate or out turn an F-15C at high altitude, for example. They were just stating thier seat of the pants preference in different BFM setups.
