Just had to get this off my chest, as it seems to crop up time after time, in real life and on here, the question being this.
Do you think that people who, on a Friday or Sat night, and get stoned, or take drugs in such a quantity, and as a result have to be taken to Hospital to be treated, should pay for the treatment they recieve?.

Simply because if you had a problem at work, as you stated, not only you and I, but everyone went to their respective bosses, as they were in most cases the only ones to turn to. If you didn’t receive the answer to your problem, then you went to the works union rep/ convener, so we did, in one way shape or other go with the flow. Even being on this forum, you are along with a few thousand others, going with the flow by Posting or answering questions. I suppose we could call it the “Hidden flow”.

Are we really that short of time?? No, that’s not the reason – it’s laziness. And sloppiness in communication feeds into every aspect of life. Interestingly my grandchild rarely uses” text speak”. I certainly hope some of the youngsters I see and hear and encounter are not those who will be shaping the world.
As I said, the flow goes downhill, not uphill.;);)

SkyHigh, Sorry, but I don’t agree with your comment regarding the flow going only one way, and thats downhill, both you and Kev, seem to forget that these youngsters of today are going to be someday the ones that shape the world. And when you think about it, why not text speak, it certainly saves time, my Grandchildren use it all the time. I see and know exactly what Kev and your good self are saying, but even I, like to think even at my age, I can go with the flow, if in the company of youngsters, then revert to being an old git and speaking the Queens English.;) Innit.

HR!!! Why did Personnel ever have to be remamed, anyway? To make it sound “better” so that we could spend more money on the same people. In the days when I was an employee you talked through your problems, hopes, worries etc with your boss, because that was one of his jobs.

Get rid of HR departments within the NHS, our local deanery is having a restructure, no idea why when there will be another one in a year or so, however thanks to HR being poor, my wife has been forced to apply for a new job as her current position won’t exist in the new structure.
The jobs available will be either a promotion or demotion.
The jobs she could apply for came out and there were 6 days to decide what to apply for and get the application in, clearly not something you need much time to think about.
However it gets even better she was informally told (having had to chase instead of being contacted) on Monday that she would have the interview today and it would require a presentation. Today after she had left for the interview the post arrived with a letter telling her that she had been successful in her application and could she come for an interview.
This is only the latest in a very very long list of **** ups and incompetent actions that has caused much stress and upset to a lot of not only my wife but a lot of other members of staff who are in the same situation.

Actually no, the NHS will spend probably £500million on it every year.
Compared to what is wasted within the NHS, a letter stating the tests you have been waiting for, for the last two weeks, when you have been worrying your guts out is a small price to pay for piece of mind, when you find out the test results were O.K. on the other hand. unfortunately the letter you don’t want to get, is the one sent to your Dr.
I would say though, a few weeks ago, I was rushed into Boston Hospital, which is not my normal hozzy, and about an hour later, I was visited by a Dr, whilst I was in a cubical, and he had ALL my medical records, he had printed off a computer, so CD it may well be, that paperwork and sending info to your Dr, may soon be a thing of the past.

I imagine it does impinge on the patient if the negative effect of all that rubbish is to reduce the quality of his/her care.
We will agree to differ on the second point.
There is no direct cost to the patient.:confused:
