It wouldn’t burden much in logistics, rather the other way around,
F414 is already bought, and just about every western weapon is already integrated on Gripen.
F-35 is also a strong contender

    Gripen vs F 35

    I will be torn

    😡

    126 Rafale heavy hitters ?

With 80 odd Gripens to follow 😀

May be this will make UAE rethink.

L1 bidder (hence winner) to be announced “soon”, contract to be signed FY13:

…in separate news, an Indian man dressed in a USAF uniform was arrested @ the Indian MoD press centre after giving a bogus press conference where he claimed MMRCA had been cancelled and the IAF would instead procure the F-35 (with F-16IN deliveries as a stop-gap measure under FMS).
He later gave his name as ‘quadbike’, the Indian police stressed that at no time was ‘waterboarding’ used in their interrogation. Mug shot to follow…

Quad Bike not ‘quadbike’ that is forum talk.

    Stranger this have happened 😎

He cannot overturn anything, what he can do is whip up a storm making an already embattled government cancel the whole thing and re-tender.

If they do that I hope CAG will launch and enquiry and get rid of the guys who are in control of purchasing the MMCRA and also the guys who selected the 2 aircraft for the IAF.

Indian CAG don’t work that way. If its cancelled after all this fuzz no body will look into it, as its mostly competitors money that was spent not Indian taxpayer money.

However if either the Rafale or Typhoon is selected for 20 billion  then the CAG will cry foul for the deal being over budget and also for cutting off cheaper competitors like the Gripen who has met the IAFs initial performance matrix.

    That’s how CAG works :diablo:

IAF should just buy more Su 30s

Do you think its painted in Russia still the old ILs? I am sure its Indian paint on it now. When the Yankee paint wears off we will put crappy Indian paint on the C-130 J too, making it black nosed. :p

Every passing week I believe more and more than the tender will be cancelled. They may just be looking for a least embarrassing option to do it.

Why when you have your resident Mallu here 🙂

It says “when INS Vikrant is floated into the Kochi lake as part of the shipbuilding process”

    Heading reads

“Aircraft carrier construction in its final stages”

    Clueless ?

This doesn’t look like Kochi-Ernakulam, that place doesn’t have any haze. Its usually either pouring from the skies or as bright as overhead lamp in a torture room but no haze.

Edit: @Quadbike, if you are reading this, get off your seat, grab a decent camera with a bazooka sized lens and go get us some pictures 🙂

I have deployed some folks for the purpose fingers crossed. The problem is the Bazooka lens 😉

Injuns have no problem with that while offering a bigger fleet.

you consider avionics from Elbit, IAI, etc second class to Thales?

    Welcome back :diablo:

Depends on which Israeli kit. The Derby missile for example was slammed by the Indian CAG as not meeting Navy requirements, it may be inferior to MICA.
