The IAF is actually interested in the Meteor & apparently went via Sweden to learn more about the actual capabilities.
Does that mean that Gripen has a real chance now 🙂
Don’t compare the British and the Russians. They are worlds apart in terms of overall military capability. Growth potential of the Russian economy also dwarfs anything Britain can possibly foresee for the rest of eternity, really.. While 6 nuclear carriers by 2030 seems unrealistic, I’d say by 2040 that becomes quite viable. 4 CVNs by 2030 is quite doable.
Especially if the Global Warming goes ahead British will be one of the biggest losers and Russians the big winners. 😎 Mining and Agriculture in Siberia, Oil under ice caps etc. 😎
The Vikramaditya is a done deal, the work is still going ahead and a price will be agreed soon.
Is the AIM 9X on offer to India ? I think it will also be AIM 120 C-7 offered to the IAF to begin with and not the AIM 120D.
I think the AAMs are ordered separately. PAF has like 500+ AMRAAMS on order, does anyone know about Sidewinders or other SRAAMS
The Gripen seems to be well off in the weapon integration regard especially A2A as it can use AMRAAM, MICA and Meteor. Aim 9x, ASRAAM and IrisT.
Are the Argentines going to buy anything anytime soon ?
It is still better than Magic II used by IAF Mirages 🙂
Aint these going to be replaced by Mig 29 SMTs ?
I would assume that China/Pakistan will still be able to sell their fighter at a cheaper price. And for most of the countries you talk about JF 17 is more than enough.
I think the Rafale has a massive range advantage over other MRCA competitors and if you have seen its pictures two or three tanks look pretty much the standard configuration.
NO BVR ? Do you know what radar/missile combos are selected. There was some report that MICA is being considered.
Great Pictures 🙂
It also requires a reversal of long-standing policy on building weapons in Japan. What will Mitsubishi & MITI think of that?
They wanted the F 22 which was not going to be built in Japan either.
If you believe the article then apparently that’s not the case
It may well be they decided to purchase the follow on MIGS anyway but not for the next carriers.
