Found it myself. One of the most informative posts I have ever read in this forum.

May be you can do something like this on the Typhoon then we can compare it with this 😀

Scorpion, I have been searching for that post you made regarding Rafale MMI a while back, would you be kind enough to repost or link it ?

I like the USAF low-vis roundels. The IAF roundel is so bright that it can be seen from space, Libyan one ain’t that better either, people should forgo national colours and just concentrate on symbols on roundels.

In BVR don’t the Gripen have a lower RCS, higher range Radar & Longer range missiles ? Also don’t it have an HMDS/HOBS Missile combo which the Mirage lacks ?

well, there’s only one way to know… let india buy rafales and calm your worries 😀

Bigger worry is about Rafale, even the AA radar don’t have that much of a range advantage over the F 16 Block 52 radar. AMRAAM c-5 > MICA in range. IS the Rafale going to come with Meteor right away ?

when was the last time we discussed an MMRCA specific topic?

we have eurofighter and rafale threads to circle round and round in don’t we?

FWIW IMHO using conversations with pilots as evidence has been quibbled about before.

If there were a leaked document from the IAF evaluation pilots with comments on MMI, weapons carriage ability/inability or the relative merits of PIRATE over the Mica IR then that would be worth reading!

That is like a death-wish if its leaked the contract will be re-tendered.

My other question is people are discussing the China front a lot and forgetting about Pakistan.

Those Block 52s armed with AMRAAM C-5 & JHMCS (No aim 9x as of yet yay) are no slouches. I am especially worried about the Rafale going against it, for at present the Rafale has shorter range AAMs, no HMD etc. And the Greeks did not consider it to be that better than F 16 in dog fights, as per ASPIS the score was 2-2.

Another worry includes Pakistani claims that they ate the Typhoon for breakfast in a recent exercise 😮

    point proven.

more beautiful Gallic emotions. I personally think its a positive thing. I just hope we’re all friends at the end of it!

    Twist at the end :diablo:

When MRCA is dumped for F 35 both rafale and tiffy fans condemn IAF together.

I would prefer an Active radar missile anyday, AFAIK there are no kills from long range IRAAM engagements yet.

I disagree with that entirely, and the reason is the specific claims of both 1426 T/R, but more so the specific range of 59 km.
This is not the usual “around” / “some” prefix: it is a specific value that he is ready to prove mathematically.
And given the specific value he chose to present,
-he invite anyone to question him, (again unlike the usual trolling of “some” and/or “around” claims

How can one verify it mathematically without knowing the correct RCS of the F35 ?

Some reasons for Dassault not to undercut their unit price and diminish their margin :

    -Synergies with the M2K fleet
    -Lower operating costs
-Possibility for the IAF to use the same aircraft as the Indian Navy (Navy tender)
-Already well known and appreciated supplier
-Less risky option for the IAF : actual price and performance is already known and tested.
-Still cheaper unit cost despite huge sacrifices made by the competitor.

    http://machinist.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3934&Itemid=2

That is the price India is going to pay for not keeping another aircraft in the final down-select.

It looks to me as if.

    1. The Typhoon is indeed far more expensive than the Rafale at-least @ flyaway cost.

    2. Because it only has to be lower than Typhoon to be L1, Dassault has raised the price of Rafale, increasing their margins.

    3. I wonder how their prices would have been if something like the Super-Bug was retained at this point.

    😉

May not be available right now, otherwise why cut 1 Phalcon off from the planned 3 additional orders ?

I always wondered what ‘world’ Russia belonged to after the USSR break up. Used to be second world.
