IIRC Eurofighter GMBH isn’t allowed to export at less than it charges the partner nations, so there’s limited scope for cutting margins.

What about the talk of the 7% off partner deal, India being offered partnership means it may be able to export it cheaper.

For nth time, both the aircraft cleared technical evaluations. Doesn’t matter anymore.

I know this still people are arguing about it, I was just replying to them. Did you see where some one posted earlier that Rafale was rated above etc etc,.

I am more worried about the Typhoons ‘precision laser cut’ technology some one stated as its advantage here. Looks a bigger learning curve in the offing for HAL in that rather than the normal Rafale built.

I thought Dassault should be very aggressive to get the deal, but then I don’t know if the article is true or not.

But if Dassault actually manages to make some profit on the deal, it won’t have to catch up on the support costs. Eurofighter could very well cut a real good deal up front and get the money back the support contracts.

It’s hard to tell which strategy would be better without looking at the whole deal, but in the article the impression given is that Dassault didn’t make too much effort while Eurofighter did. I hope it’s not as clear cut.

    Nic

You must never underestimate Dassault’s ability to lose from a winning position like in Morraco.

Teer raises a valid point, the MRCA as big is it brings a lot back to India in-terms of offsets & ToT. For a much smaller company like Dassault it may become a business decision that people up top may thing it may be better economically to lose the deal.

As for the support costs I thought it was also part of the calculations in determining the L1.

As a plane I like the Rafale more, but recent French showings are not good (iffyness about offsets, Sarko could shouldering our P.M etc)

I can see advantages for the Typhoon in the Indian trials, especially in hot & high performance. May be that is what gives the Typhoon an edge.

Then there should be no complaining about China looking after itself. Like the US doesn’t manipulate its currency? Like Japan yielding to Western criticism on its currency manipulation changed anything? It didn’t. You know why? Because it had nothing to do with it. It’s just a distraction from the actual issue of greed.

Notice you didn’t bring up outsourcing?

Outsourcing helps the western capitalists as much as Indians its a mutual beneficial affair unlike China’s currency policy.

Talking about which while service sector outsourcing is done in India, manufacturing and all is done in China 😉

Then again French don’t envisage any other fighter till the 2040s I guess. May be the UCAV programme ?

Many Russian aircrafts have had better aerodynamics than F15, yet if you were proposed to go to war in a flanker or a F15 which one would you choose ?

    F 15 C vs Su 30 MKI/35 = Flanker

    F 15K/SG vs the above = Eagle

Even if the 5% figure is true, a finished plane which cost 5% less than a not finished plane doesn’t sounds too shoking to me.

In one case the co-development will be for new projects: conformal side AESA antenas, GaN AESA, sattelite data link, AESA wave forming, data link and jaming, carrier version, nuke, new comon missiles, etc.

In the other case the co-development will be to finish the job left down unfinished by a bunch of Europeans who’ve already turned the Eurofighter page.

It’s obvious that the Eurofighter fans are mostly motivated by business aim unlike the French who are more focused on a parnership to reinforce our independance model.

Not taking sides as I prefer the Rafale of the two but don’t say things like the French are not motivated by Business. The Mirage deal clearly shows they are.

The price is for the finished Eurofighter anyway India is not going to pay for Radar integration and all that additionally.

There you go dear quadbike, cite this credible source in your research.

No bids were opened for American, Russian and Swedish jets, so how do these “Sources” know they were much cheaper. Go figure.
Forums seem to be more accurate than these news papers. …LoL

😉 In this case we know from other sources that its not the case, in the other case we did not.

And its a National news paper and not a good one at that (doesn’t come near the standards of The Hindu or Deccan Herald) and not a dedicated defense Magazine.

As for Booms fav defense analyst Sidiqui was it not her who said Rafale was out a year or two back
