do you see anybody steals a 46 inches TV at store and go home and builds their own LCD screen and decoder processor??

Even if HAL was given the blue print of Su-33 I doubt it will pull off a J-15.

btw they are aiming for a higher TOW than su-33, AFAIK they are happy with it..

    on a general note:

apparently bid was between Chengdu and Shengyang again. Shengyang won on a “lower risk approach”, less schedule risk.. Chengdu wants to do either 1) J-10 carrier version. and 2) a stealthier superbug lookalike. donno for sure.

If HAL had the blue prints & Russia would sell them engines HAL could easily make an SU 33. Infact HAL is doing exactly that with the Su 30 but we are paying them the license fee which is their due rather than ripping them off.

I am sure in the end they will compare to the Su 33 as ‘Sunny Walkman’ would do to a ‘Sony Walkman’.

Stealing is one thing then congratulating yourself over it is quite another.

WTF?! Who mentioned anything about Pakistan?! How sad, pathetic and immature! If you feel the need to denigrate another country to relieve your body functions, so be it. No need for me to burst your wet dream, I’m sure the indian carriers will be on budget, on time and according to expectations…just like virtually every other indian defence project. Moreover, I’m sure the world will stay static for you and global political trends will continue as they, not to mention the indian MoD becoming more efficient and timely when ordering defence equipment.

 If you think not getting F 35 is denigrating Pakistan the problem is with your outlook, I added that because some posters from there have not woken up the reality of the shift in U.S defense ties. IAC 1 is on time and schedule and if anything the 2 will be as well.

    @ Boom the 2 carriers being the Vicky & IAC 1. I was talking about the IAC 2 & F 35 C. Naval AMCA ? may be IAC 3/4 😀

Just for the record i see you have put on your F-35 ‘tunnel glasses’ yet again..
Now do you remember the recent Mig-29UPG deal?;)
Now put that in the same basket as IN Mig-29K deal.
And what does this tell you, that IN and IAF have the same interest, and beside it is not entirly up to IN to decide what to get, it is the Indian MoD final say.
If they see a fair offer which will save them lots of funding and still get a decent Naval fighter. Then the Mig-29K is spott on.
And the Mig-29K will go on atleast to 2025.
After that its the same story with IAF Pak-Fa and IN Naval Pak-Fa.
    I now rest my case.

    1. The IAF UPG deal was bound to happen regardless of the MIG 29K deal. IN & IAF have different interests and different priorities, IN for example supports indigenous projects more.

    2. Many here speculated that having a Naval variant will help the SH win the MRCA that surely is not going to happen, again shows IAF & IN makes independent decisions.

    3. This is exactly why LM has proposed the F 35, EADS the Sea Typhoon & SAAB the Sea Gripen, I think MIG will respond with a MIG 35K (29K with MIG 35 internals).

    4. There is no planned Naval PAK FA for the moment, it may take a while to materialize, and I can’t see the navy operating it. It would the F 35C or RafaleM.

and i will repeat it for the tenth time (and im not the only one)
Su-33 production stopped! There were no updates. MiG kept developing it, and India made the rational choice of going for one that had more of a future than the other. Russia chose the Su-33 at first. Sukhoi proved to Soviet MAP it was superior. Russia chose the new MiG-29 because Su-33 production stopped and MiG was already building Migs for India. That simple

    ps. CHina went for SU-33.

hey at least you’re honest and thats why you are comrade zangief! 😉

So why did India chose MIG 29K then ? Both the 29K & 33K were out of production with the Su 33 atleast having more examples flying. The reason IN did that was because its just as capable.

I think the MIG 35 & 29K uses the same engines, so the Russian examples if they wanted can have the AESA radar developed for the 35, can have 3-D TVC and the newer OLS/protection suites. Many of these can be integrated to the Indian 29Ks in the future as well.

J-15  its like you buy a 40 inch tv from the store only to find your neighbour gloating about the 46 incher he stole from the same store. :diablo:

    Let me see..
    Ah yes, your bubble again.
Just when do you think an IN F-35 order will materilize?
    Way after 2020, yes?
By then the Indians would have invested heavly in the Pak-Fa/FGFA right!
Now sinse they allready invested so much hard cash, why not go for a Naval T-50:confused:

But nah, by your wet dreams, India will instead proccure yet another type of fighter for an insanly price and under par with Pak-Fa which they allready got by then..
    Your logic fails.

 There exists no Naval T-50 version and there is no development planned as of now. It may be well into the 2020s while we may need the new Naval fighter in the early 20s.

The Navy has nothing to do with what types IAF operates. It has in the past operated totally different types and even now it is in the Harrier. So you argument wrt to logistics and all fail.

IN did not send an RFI to Sukhoi, and yes India will procure yet another fighter for the Navy ;). As i say again it has nothing to do with what the IAF operates.

The RFI was issue to LM for F 35 that is a fact. It is also a fact they responded with B & C shown the Navy brass presentations and all that, they were actively pushing for the C version instead of the B as well.

Please do re-post the article the F 35 for IN is bound to happen. It is not yet concluded that is all. Show me where Antony dismisses it.

You are confusing it with the rumors of f 35 being offered to the IAF as an mrca alternative, which antony dismissed this has nothing to do with IN.

Is that confirmed or wishful thinking?

Its on offer for the Indian Navy. And Pakistan will never be offered the F 35 anyway 🙂

That certainly is a stretch! I seriously cannot see that happening.

Tell that to LM who has responded with F 35 B and C with the INs RFI for the next gen fighter. The RFI was sent to MIG, Dassault, SAAB, Boeing & Eurofighter. Only people living in the 1980s cannot see IN operating F35s soon.

i.e for that to happen Russia has to first operate a fifth gen Naval fighter or atleast fly a prototype then China has to copy it and integrate it. F 35 C for IN will happen way before that. 😎

Except that you are comparing the upgraded Mig-29 to the non-upgraded SU-33. The SU-33K would be much better than the Mig-29K. I’m sure the Indians are feeling fine, but he with the upgraded SU-33 will feel twice as fine 😀

Why worry when we are getting F 35 C on our next carrier. 😉

Why Germany with India given the past deals and history would the Brits not have been in a better position to negotiate ?

Have you seen the Yak-130 line? It is quiet busy. The RuAF is in the middle of receiving the pilot batch, and they have been for months in negotiation with the plant for a larger order of 65 Yak-130s…and this is not the last batch either. Price disagreements have been a problem, but there is no doubt they will settle eventually, the RuAF has no other option simply. The production capability of the line suggest once the contract is signed they will have no problem delivering at least 15-16 aiframes to the RuAF next year. Further, the plane is produced at both Sokol and IAPO.

For export, Irkut has 30 airframes almost finished for Algeria, 16 will be delivered this year. Seems to me like Yak-130 activity is very busy @ Irkut.

I think the 42 MKI option is also being purchased from Russia.

So in effect if we will have to keep two separate stocks of Meteor for Rafale and other aircraft if Rafale is selected and Meteor is integrated to other IAF platforms.
