Maybe Dassault overpriced the bid to try and help the sale of Rafales to the UAE (so that they could sell their Mirages to India)?

Other than that we don’t know what or how many weapons are provided for either bid. An upgrade with Mica and Scalp isn’t the same as the purchase of Mig 29K without weapons for instance.

    Nic

Why do you say without weapons. The 29Ks are for the Navy and they don’t have any R 77s/73s, so unless the IAF gives them some of their precious R 77 stocks (very unlikely) the purchases include missiles.

    Let me get this straight:

The IAF says $2,2 bn is too much to bring 50 M2K to -5 Mk2 standard, but they are about to pay $5,2 bn to upgrade 68 Jaguars?

    Dude 😮

    Nic

Your math is wrong 523 million is just over half a billion.

    Iraq didn’t have S300 either.

    Nic

Yes that was my point exactly, its one thing using all these advanced stuff against archaic Air Defenses and Aircraft, than using them against a decent adversary.

As for the USA doing it with cruise missiles, they were not very eager to get involved perhaps that explains it.

Britain and France are the leaders of the conflict with Americans providing backup

and of course all 4 gen has AASM like into thier inventory, duhhh 😮

But Libya had archaic SAMs not something like the S-300.

You pray a conflict breaks out just so you can make an assessment of weapons systems…really?
Slightly dodgy morality there to say the least.

Conflicts will always happen, I just want the next one to be between even sides, rather than bombing the crap out of an infeiror enemy (i support Natos Libyan campaign however).

Don’t have to be PRC, may be IRAN getting some S 300s with its Tor M1 would do the trick. 😉

Its just that people from neutral countries don’t share your enthusiasm of western pilots surviving every mission. 😉

How can you judge Rafale on its performance against pathetic Libyan Air Defenses ? Same applies for all recent conflicts involving western Aircraft.

I pray some country with S 300s / Buk M1 etc. goes to war with France/West, then we will see how good it is.

IIRC the Greeks were not too impressed with the Rafale as per Aspis. But were they Rafale F1s or F2s ?

All possible except 3. Russians didn’t even help in the much simpler task of integrating R 73 onto Tejas, this is why Derby & Python were chosen as its SR/MR AAMs.

If the Derby is good enough Derby/Python are missiles Indians can standardize on.

Israelis are offering a cheaper Mirage 2000 upgrade path with Derby/Python/2032, with some Arm-twisting the Russkies may also let India integrate the Derby onto the MKI.

Anything Similar in performance with the AMRAAMS Pakistan has would be good. So I doubt it would be obselete.

I think with the Typhoon AMRAAM is the bigger worry. But Meteor will probably be available by the time the first IAF MRCA enters service,

This is not the first time when an exectuive form one competitor makes claims which are not true about their aircraft or a competing one.

LM still says their fighter is the only one with an operational AESA.

French say typhoon has US components, I remember scorpion posting a reply from Typhoon PR saying there are no critical U.S components.

France says only they can give 100% ToT while both the other Eurocanards have said they will offer the same, and Americans say they will offer the required level.

The plan is to have nearly as much MRCA as the Su 30s. A recent report suggested an order of 260 (eventually), in that case the Gripen makes the most sense.

There is no scam…the scam will be if an American jet wins. After the recent wikileaks incidents..that is not happening.

Wikileaks simply does not matter. It did and then leaks about the BJP and the Communists came out, now everyone is discrediting it.

Americans especially the Hornet stand a great Chance.

    Rafale won’t win this.
