Folks MRCA deal is just a few months away.

Price talks for 126 jets to begin this month: IAF chief

“The cost negotiation for MMRCA will begin by the end of this month. I expect the contract to be signed before I retire from service in July this year,” Naik, who interacted with the capital’s women journalists, said.

It’s easy for an armchair general to just throw a solution that means killing of thousand of lives. I wonder if you have the guts to face any surviver that was “bombed the **** out” and told him that it was deserved. I know that there is nothing in my post that will change the minds of such people, they spend too much time in front of TV and playing games.
And btw on topic, i hope that if Typhoon will become battle proven, it will be against any fanatic Kadafi follower, not a pilot dumping his bombs in the desert.

According to you dictators killing their own citizens is fine, when the west uses precision guided weapons which are designed for minimum collateral to the greater good then its evil.

I think Tornadoes may be used more if SEAD is more of a priority.

And its taken, what, the best part of 20 years to get this far, better than it was yes, but far from perfect. Doing “very well” now is a bit optimistic. Iraq is not stable enough for the US to or any other country to leave.

20 years only because papa Bush did not finish the job.

And its not important for the Typhoon to get an excellent oppurtunity to prove itself, its simply a tool designed to do this type of work, nothing more nor less.

Well being combat proven is a strong selling point for the American jets world wide, even the French call the Rafale combat proven after dropping some bombs on the Taliban, surely doing some A2G work and taking out a few Su 22s will make Typhoon more attractive for foriegn customers. 😉

Yes, and now Iraq is a peaceful, stable, beautiful, non-violent, friendly country thats thriving with tourists…Its difficult to book into the Hilton Baghdad Hotel, the demand is incredible…

Iraq is doing very well now. It had a difficult phase before the surge. Now Iraq is great and much better than under Saddam.

    Libya 🙂 is next

Excellent oppurtunity to pass the Typhoon as battle proven against Su 22s.

Best way is to bomb the **** out of Gaddaffi troops after estbalishing a NFZ and then use AH1Z or Appache to desotry the armour.

By the time they estbalish No Fly Zone, Gaddaffi would have reached his objectives with his airforce, and then will lose his artillery and land troops to advance further.

Americans don’t want boots on the ground and the UK I think won’t want it either. How about the French and Italian troops ?

BTW, TNI-AU has formally also asked for quotes for J-10, JF-17 and JAS39C as replacement for F-5E/F.

    India should offer the LCA.

May be they are not dumb, may be RCS taking a backseat among other design priorities, (bigger internal bay) ?

IMO the main reason the Americans lost in Nam was that many of them didn’t want to be there and was eager to get out.

There is a chance it might make the cut, but I am sceptical, the reason I say there is a chance is because of Dassaults belated spring in the step (bringing aircrafts to AI and giving joy rides to journos).

Now that Libya deal is gone….Brazil Deal looks delayed if not gone, UAE deal is in stalemate,

Dassault really should make India an offer it cannot refuse.
