so what remains at the site ,now in november 2010.
is the whirlybird still there, ?..
I would guess the Sea Prince is still parked up there, also the Shackleton, Whirlwind and I think a Meteor T.7.

Why would the Aeropark purchase the Hunter T.7 and already want to sell it? I know they have XL569 in perfect nick.
Which Vampire is up for sale? They have XD382 and XD534 pods, 534 has tail booms and wings too I think. I presume they will keep XD447 Vampire from Long Marston.
James
Thanks for the update David. I hope to get down there again very soon and see for myself.
I thought the Aeropark already had a lot on with their 2 Vampires, Sheriff, Meteor and Whirlwind under restoration. The Vulcan, Varsity and Argosy were also being worked on when I last went down.
Does anyone have any photos or ariel views from the old Aeropark as I’m planning to make a 1:72 scale model of it soon.
James B
I used to work at the Aeropark but sadly left during 2007 but I still keep an eye on of what’s going on etc.
Has anyone any latest news from the Aeropark? Purchasing 9 of Long Marston’s collection is a big task.
James B
The Meteor behind the Vulcan is TT.20 WM224 back in it’s target tug colours. I’m guessing that the new NF.14 is at the old Aeropark waiting to be moved across.
James B
Any word yet on where the Hunter T7 cockpit has gone?
I believe the Hunter T.7 nose has headed down South somewhere, I don’t know where though.
James B
Are there two Vampires in the workshop?
To let you all know, I am a volunteer at the Aeropark. Yes there are 2 Vampires in the hanger XD382 and XD534.
XD534 will be fitted soon with the wings and tails off XD382 outside the hanger.
There are plenty of updates and news on the Aeropark. Please PM or email me if you want to know anything else on the Aeropark.
James B
Sorry, you’re right. I knew I got the serial wrong too. The Canberra nose is camoflaged but I don’t know the serial. I think its a B.2 or a PR version though.
James B
Yes the Canberra nose is for the Aeropark, owned by one of our members. It will be on display next to WH740 Canberra.
I believe the serial for her is WH876.
James B
As for as I know XM575 is still live, and the systems still work. I think 3 of the 4 Olympus engines are in working order too.
Peter. The Varsity is being stripped and repainted at this current stage. She got badly weathered when we closed down back in 1995. She will look brand new again (hopefully) once she is finished. I doubt she will be tested again due to the noise control. I doubt we test the Vulcan, Buccaneer or Canberra now.
I hope this helps.
James B
I do have 2 pics of the Varsity running up from the 1980s (when we were at the old site). I will have to try and find them. It’s very rare that we run her up now due to noise, fuel cost etc. We may no longer run her up anymore.
Don’t worry Peter, the Varsity is staying with us for a long time yet. She is looking a bit dirty at the moment, but a strip and repaint are on the cards this year.
James B
We occasionally still run the Varsity up but not very often due to the noise etc. The cockpits are open on open days, and good summers days.
I really enjoyed the old Aeropark when I was a little boy. I do miss that site now. Does anyone have any photos from the old Aeropark as I am after some?
James B
I think the navy version of a Buccaneer needs smaller engines, thats if your making an S.1 version.
James B
What a shame some of these airliners at Cosford are getting the chop. I really don’t like seeing aircraft being scrapped. They are making a huge mistake, especially to the VC-10, B-707 and Trident.
James B
Wessex at the NEMA Aeropark is XS876, XT604 and XT480. I infact work at the Aeropark.
