Yeah, Ulan-Ude already built a Su-25UBM or two, and they have been in trials for a while now. Keep hearing news about how the trials have been passed.

in august 2008 the birds(su-25) bombed the factory were they were produced(tbilisi)

Yeah, it wasn’t really hardcore bombing though. They hit something on the periphery of the plant, no serious damage took place to the assembly line AFAIK.

Compared to say, American bombing tendencies, it was downright mild. 😀

Isn’t there a contract for 16 Su-25UBM ? Where are they going to be built ?:confused:

Yeah only place that builds Su-25 in Russia.

Su-34 doesnt use L-175 unless you have some really good proof of that. It uses L-265.

I thought some of them had L-175B

Upgrade. Single seat Su-25 is only built in Tbilsi (or used to be, they havn’t made a wholly new example since the USSR collapsed).

What I would take issue with is this statement though:

True, the plan as it stands now is pretty sound, but a lot of time and money was wasted along the extraordinarily convoluted way which led there. Some projects which should not have survived are still around and most of the others were delayed more than necessary.

Defense projects in Russia have always been fundamentally tied to political and industrial standing (especially following collapse of USSR), so it is not surprising. Not sure where they got the idea that is it so disciplined and systemic.
