130 Su-25 to be modernized by 2020. Around 50 already modernized, 80 more to be done this decade.

Su-35 features a much lighter and modern radar, hence the lift from canards isn’t necessary. It will also mostly operate as a single seater. As far as I am aware, Indian demands were restricted to integration of avionics of their choice on it.

I am still hunting for actual radar (or dish vs dish) weights of Irbis vs Bars. The ones I saw are really no much of a difference.

Good overview of Su-35/China situation. I initially dismissed this as unlikely, but the Chinese interest seems real. Alexander Fomin’s comments in the article are not election talk.

China agrees on the price, 85 million per aircraft, but Russian side is pushing for legally firm protection of intellectual property.

Will be very very interesting (and funny) if this concludes with Chine getting the 48 birds.
