RSK MiG has had multiple designs that look like that. All waiting for funding. If the Koreans were to demand sole ownership of production and marketing rights in exchange for their collaboration….

Alternately, just approach India, damn it! Our AMCA is a very similar design, and we’ll have advanced technology from the PAK FA and Rafale to contribute to it in the very near future.:diablo:

I don’t think it as easy as India taking PAK-FA technology and putting into the Korean program….;)

That’s a pretty big number IMO, when we consider this is just the top tier system of just the Army.

They operate at least 150 systems, probably more. Not enough ? :p

Yak-3 was not spanked, more like avoided. 😮

MiG-1/3 did not do well fighting at lower altitudes, but that’s not a knock on their quality. Just improper/unfortunate employment. Something we can really say of most of the Soviet air units, in 41 and 42.

Would certainly have been interesting if the MiG’s found themselves in a Western type scenario.

    …and his friend the Mi-24 (Krokodil).:D

😮 Nice catch, we need a pic of the two of them together.

The eastern front of WWII, where a huge number of technically inferior fighters managed to break the backbone of the germans, despide huge losses. In the end the Russian fighters became superior in performance, but not for the most part of the war.

    Nic

That’s kind of a generalization. MiGs were superior to BF109 at high altitude for example, very early in the war. Yak-3 was one of the most dangerous on the opposite spectrum. Of course there is no doubt the Soviet war machine substituted numbers for quality, even if the basic design was good- war time austerity and all.

It has the technical skill to build modern airliners like the An-148 that enjoy as much success(or more) in the international market than any of those ‘more advanced’ Russian airliners made by better-funded Russian design bureaus.

Uh what? Most An-148s have been made in Russia. And if we look at order book, Superjet is doing far better with foreign customers (or total customers for that matter). In a year or two Superjet will roll right past An-148 in production numbers.

What about Ukraine? At this rate their domestic aircraft manufacturing capability will be lost entirely.

An-70 production is only happening at Ukraine at the moment, and will always partially stay there. But I suspect, in smaller numbers than in Russia, due to lack of solid orders. They could get some commercial orders though.

Tatarstan independent? 0% chance of that happening. Today, or tomorrow.

I take it thats the one that caught fire the other day hence the covering.

The covering had nothing to do with the “fire”.
Congrats, you have a 100% nonsense post record.

Damn, why did I reply to the troll.

So Russia has now 5 division S-400 with 8 launcher echa.

Should be more. We had 32 early in 2011, and the units being brought online in Kaliningrad have more than 8 launchers IMO.

I like how he tries to fake British language style in some posts, then forgets about it and uses non-British idioms in other posts.

It is clearly a past troll too. I think PParker.
