I’m not sure where the idea of RD-33 being bad in economy comes from.
It has better fuel efficiency than F404 and M88 in dry thrust. Less with AB, but it also is more powerful than either.

MiG-29 had crappy range as a result of two powerful engines and small fuel fraction (by design).

Gromky, the 2nd 20380 @ Amur, has been laid down. Date of handing over to navy- 2015.

And photos of Sovershenny, at Amur, 2012. Not close to completion at all, rumors of work barely going for some time were true. Hopefully it picks up now.

That is an ancient Mi-26.

@ Wanshan, yes quite true, but the small ASW corvettes are much smaller than the Kamorta. Just found it curious for an ASW specific ship, for example 20380 and 22350 have huge bulbs on the front bow.

Dagestan also does not have it (at all), but it is smaller and not ASW oriented by any means.
Talwar is quite a bit bigger than Kamorta, and it has a more substantial sonar emplacement on the front, though not the size of the ships previously mentioned.
The Vietnamese ordered two more Gepards, supposedly these will be for the purpose of ASW rather than surface warfare (as opposed to 1st two) so it will be interesting to see what sonar arrangement they go for.

But it already has gained significant domestic and export orders, so I think the enthusiasm is well placed. I don’t think it is a stretch to say the Yak-130 has a bright future.

Well, Yak & IAPO are gaining orders at a fairly quick phase these days..
Who’s next? Some S-American country perhaps?
How about Vietnam?

Thought Vietnam already ordered 8.

It HUMSA-NG and most probably , in addition to the bow , sonar arrays are also fitted on both the flanks amidships.
In addition , it will also have towed array either Nagan from NPOL or european.

On the subject of the Su-34:

Compare these twp, the new Black scheme, and the older serials:

Above and slightly behind the mechanism that the landing gear attaches to when lowered, on the black Su-34, right next to the silver engine nacelles, is a long squarish fairing. This is absent on the previous aircraft. What is this?
