This should help you out with your dilemma TR1 🙂 I don’t know how accurate it is and where I found it 😮

I don’t think anything else but unguided rockets and bombs could be packed on these dual pylons (as this scheme suggests anyway).

I tend to agree, I don’t see how anything but bombs could be placed on the long wing pylons, and the small side by side ones I have only seen carrying rocket pods. Though, it may be able to carry laser guided rockets and bombs on it, as long as it fits.

In use. In that picture though it appears the long inner pylon is just used for big missiles, so I am not sure if it can be used as an attachment for two separate weapons. However, I am positive I have seen the Su-34 with multiple-ejector racks on that pylon anyways, so clearly the payload capacity is there. Of course now I can’t find the photo.

I did some calculations of Rafale Trust to weight, on empty, loaded and maximum take off, and it is quite competitive, often better, then most contemporaries, light heavy or medium. For example, it is marginally better TWR in both dry and AB, then the Su-35, at loaded and empty weights. The Su-35 is better by a larger margin on maximum load though. I guess the Rafale would suffer in practical use from large draggy stores (fuel tanks etc), but thats an issue on most fighters aside from the huge Flanker. So why the complaint by the UAE? The more thrust due to conditions should apply to most every aircraft out there.

Is there something specific about the behavior of the M88 that led to these comments?

Yes but are these concrete plans or wishful thinking? I say that as i’m sure we’re all aware of the wishful thinking that comes out of Russia, such as 6 aircraft carriers and hundreds of Su-34’s, adavnced attack helicopters etc etc the list is almost endless. I have grave doubts the numbers of PAK-FA’s in Russian airforce service will get above 60. Infact I have doubts they will even get as far as 60.

Don’t feed the troll guys.
Would not surprise me if this was one of the “old” PAK-FA trolls from around here, like PParker.

On this pic we can see the other pylon possibilities, the double ones on the wing. Presumably these give the options of 6 pylons on each wing. That’s a crapton of total pylons. 12 on wings, presumably 4 rack on each of the under body attachments (another 8), and that leaves the 2 pylons on the nacelles. Haven’t seen any multiracks there, so I will leave it at 22!

lol, what? The industry was not ailing at the time, and the Indian order was fairly small in terms of the entire production.
