Point is it is not a particularly unique example of support for a regime having trouble with some of its populace.
Don’t get how it is dumb, Assad has shown no sign of falling any time soon. And if he does, the Yak-130s will just go to the RuAF, I am fine with that. Not like a post-Assad Syria will be a breeding ground for big commercial/military deals for Russia anyways.
And until I see the Yak-130 attacking civilians, I don’t find anything sick about it.
And yet its not anything as blatant as the support the US gave to the Mubarak regime for decades. Just one example.
Holy crap thats glorious.
For the love of god tell me there is a high res of that.
Meh, all the big powers have blood money on their hands when it comes to many Arab states.
How can a Yak-130 not be combat capable? It is used for weapons training, has full weapons pylon capability, of course the Syrian example will lack any sort of sophisticated targeting means, but nothing can stop them from strapping on a rocket pod and doing strafing runs with it.
Also, we have this in like two other threads, stop spamming raptor.
It’s a weird color for sure under different lighting. Looks almost dark lilac under some conditions.
Will be intersting what colors the next batch comes in at, the same brownish-purple, or a more standard grey.
Shkval is not on SM/UBM, so no Vikhr.
Su-25UB has less fuel than Su-25 IIRC, but Su-25T has more.
The Iranians must have a really high opinion of the F-14 if they still desire to operate it, 32 years after severing contacts with the original producers, Grumman, etc.
One wonders how operational those F-14s really are at this point.
Same.

Lots of good recent photos, new scheme-ed Mi-28s, Su-34s, etc.
Is this a modernization program or Ulan-Ude will resume production of Su-25? a couple of years ago I read that the Russian Air Force was going to acquire (not modernize) a number of Su-25UBM.

Yes, it is true. New UBMs are going to be aquired, while single seat SMs are only modernized examples.
Would it be technically feasible to install a tracking radar, similar to the naval ones for AK-630, and use the gun to knock down incoming AAMs ?
Su-34. New colours of the new Fullback for the Russian Air Forces!:)

Wow, hell of a photo in those colors.

Another photo, I presume from the same series/timeframe, both seem to have the side by side pylons on the belly.
Looks like the MOD is planning another contract for 10 more Yak-130s. This is on top of the recent 55 airplane order signed, on top of the first 12 batch.
From Balancers/Aviabaza:
Apparently ship was redesigned significantly (the Frankenfrigate combination of weapons from everywhere apparently did not work out), Russian weapons adopted, redesigned resulted in ship being wider, so the section already started doesn’t fit. Also money is lacking to put lightly. Prospects not looking good.
