Only 3 years 😮

Thats on top of service life left, not 3 years after overhaul. That would be awful.

Article also says after the boats service life is extended, they will undergo the planned re-armament.

Border troops getting better helos than army ? 😉 I guess the Border guys have a near combat role in Aerbaijan.

Is the order for 60 Mi-8s of different kinds happening? Pretty massive helicopter acquisition all in all, but that’s what you get with such a big defense budget

Repairs on the Smolensk have already started, as it replaced the Voronezh in the slip. Ship will return to combat readiness in summer 2013, and its service life will extended by 3 years. General Director of Zvezdochka says the experience gained in the modernization/overhaul of the 949As will be used in future modernization of the class as well as project 971 attack boats.

Indeed. I remember a BBC reporter walking by Tu-95s @ Engels a few years back, when regular long distance flights resumed, saying the planes behind him were dilapidated Soviet relics…*facepalm* wonder what he things of B-52s then.

Su-27SM3 cockpit. Now there are 4 MDFs, and looks like the center one is replaced by a larger unit.

Serdykov checked out the latest batch of Mi-28s and Mi-35s for the RuAF.
Apparently the Mi-35 order is 26, not 22 aiframes.

Are these replacements for the Il-76/KJ-2000-fleet or additional ones for the H-6K and H-6-re-engineing program ??

I was going to ask just that, surely that a lot of engines considering the Il-76 and Kj-2000 fleet isn’t big enough to justify nearly that.

What are the numbers involved in the H-6 re-engine program?

In 2011, Saturn recieved a contract to deliver another 184 D-30KP-4 engines to China.

A somewhat “stealthified” Backfire with PAK-FA engines and radar etc should be nice… 😉

As sexy as the Backfire is, I suspect PAK-FA will be something far more exotic.

Wow, looks much better in this pic! The whole thing being grey would look even better, but would not help with the whole blurring with the sky buisness.
