Well Russian civilian and military operators seem to have no need for anything aside from Mi-26T2 in the heavy helo segment, so that’s not a matter of Russia needing Chinese cooperation.

Deino has a point when it comes to airliners though, especially since the Russian industry is heavily taxed with the Superjet and MS-21 right now.

Its a bit puzzling why Sukhoi neglects paying attention to this particular detail of stealth (housing the forward IRST sensor in a facetted housing rather than a cylindrical housing, like the F-35) whilst at the same time paying attention to other details of forward sector stealth (e.g., the leading edge of the levcon and the wings are both ‘bevelled’ just like in case of the F-22).
Even if the IRST housing are coated in RAM (just like they showed at the MAKS-2011 show) – conventional wisdom says that shape is a bigger factor in reducing stealth than using RAM. IIRC, isnt a circular/cylindrical shape bad for stealth?

Or maybe we can take the obvious logical conclusion that they did think about RCS when designing the housings, up to a point they felt necessary and worthwhile. 😉

One of the reasons why F-X tender has been dragging on for so long.

Exactly why I have my doubts of the tender being a big income for anyone, Sukhoi included.

Exactly. Brazil is India on a smaller scale. Brazil will surpass Russia (and all the other prospective vendor nations bar the United States) to become the world’s 4th largest economy within the service life of whichever aircraft is selected. Success in securing this ‘insignificant’ contract will mean much $$$ over the coming decades.

Yeah, we will see about that. Brazil always is on the verge of economic prosperity.

I’ll believe it when it happens.

China’s industrial base is a lot stronger than Russia’s at the moment.

Not when it comes to aviation engines.
