if it was not the YF-22, it’ll be interesting to see why they went for the T-50 lay out instead of that one.

My thought as well, though they did have a flat bellied/s-ducted aircraft already flying as well.

The Admiral Essen has been laid down. Second BSF ‘Talwar’, supposed to be handed over to the fleet in 2014.
In Fall 2011, the 3rd 1135, the “Admiral Makarov” will be laid down. Further, another 3 ships are planned to be laid down for the Navy.

I wonder where the 2nd batch of ships will go, the 1st three are destined for BSF.

Ok some specifics on the current MiG-31BM!

Radar range is listed as 240km…target is not listed however, also not sure of the mode at this range. However, clearly an improvement over vanilla Zaslon.

24 targets tracked, 6 engaged at the same time.

Some info floating around Paralay’s about Su-34:

-In Georgia, the Kh-31PD was used, alongside iron bombs. :). This is the super long range bad boy.

-6 airframes were planned for hand over this year. However, it might only be 5. 😡

-1st plane of new batch has done 4 flights already.

28 120km range missiles is nothing to be ashamed off at that displacement – the CIWS will have their own short-range missiles right?

I do agree the ratio is weirdly small if its 16 anti ship missiles and 28 long range SAMs.

I am still not convinced the 9m96 is quad packed. Could be just 28 missiles in those cells, given the size of the ship and other weapons it would still be well armed. Assuming it is 120km variant that is.

Interesting, since MiG-29OVT test pilots have explicitly said the aircraft remains in full control during post-stall maneuvers.

Wonder kopp did the same test on the PAk-FA model or not, probably they did but haven’t released the results, only the conclusion. Which is well quoted here.

Sure, but that modeling would likely be based on his nonsense assumption that production PAK-FA will have exposed engine blades.

That is after all, the basis for his silly conclusions about PAK-FA vs J-20 vs XXX RCS.

Neustrashimy underarmed?! You’re joking. All it may need are some Uran’s amidship. Don’t think changing over to Shtil is worth the cots/effort. Particulalry since in the Black Sea, this ship will operated under cover of land-based avaiation.

The most underarmed would be Udaloy (I) which dont have their full complement of Klinok (and make do in part with glorified manpads instead).

All of the in-service 1155s aside from Kulakov have a full compliment of Klinok at this point.
