It’s interesting because it means that another air force could very well end up having more flankers than the VVS by a large margin.

I don’t think the margin will be that large. Either way, VVS has operated the Flanker for decades, love the bird, but its time to look past it as a fleet mainstay.

Jesting aside, it’s kind of interesting that Chinese production of flankers in coming years might match russian production flankers for the VVS.

Whats interesting about that? For many years now China has been making a lot more Flankers than Russia has for the VVS. Given how badly outdated the Chinese air force was, this is no surprise.

Oh, and yes, its a Su-33 rip-off. Another glorious example of China’s respect for intellectual property.

There are photos of Azeri Smerch, Tiger. The Mi-35 contract was recently signed, they are in the factory right now. This is all confirmed, so……the Venuzuelan Mi-28 thing is irrelevant. Algeria is indeed getting yak-130, that is fact.

Further you seem confused by what I said about the MiG-35. I did not say it was a sure buy. What I felt was dismissing its sales as useless and impossible, is silly.

One post = consensus of an entire thread. You got some logic.
Unlike the Rafale fans, the Su-35 club generally doesn’t go around claiming the Eurocanards will be uncompetitive against the latest Flanker. That, is the difference.

Yes, there are a obviously a few Russian equip fanbois here as well.

Azeris have been buying quite a few things from Russia lately, where have you been? Smerch, Mi-35, Tigr, etc.

TR1, you say AESA isnt a main priority since they have the Ibris. Is that because a big and powerful enougth PESA is just as good for the air surperiority role? I dont know mouch about radar systems, I’ll admit that. But my understanding is that AESAs main advantage over the legacy systems is its ability to track air and land targets simultaneusly? If the Su-35 is intended to be an air dominance fighter chiefly (which would make sence) an AESA wouldnt be of souch importance then, I guess.. Or?
AESA is also sid to be better for EW etc, but on the other hand the huge Flanker seems to have rather hevy EW capability in those wing-tip pods?

Just to add on to what you said (and what others have responded with), another advantage of the Irbis is simultaneous mechanical and electronic scanning. The AESA follow on will not have that.

It is original project 21630, Uran would be crazy overarmed, considering what they already pack. 21630 will have UKSK though, on sub 1000 ton hull 😮

Also, I keep hearing about this Rafale detecting Eurofighter first, can I get some proof? No, Rafale pilots claiming so does not constitute reliable proof.

Rafale definitely wins on best fanboys though.
