I don’t know, I find the whole thing comical. For a while Japan rages about it, Russia ignores (as it should IMO)….then all of a sudden, another spat, but this time, we hear of S-400, Bastion, Mi-28, Mistrals, lol, the whole deal being sent down there to protect the all important and threatened Kurils.
The islands are also important in terms of approaches to Russian nuclear boat deployment areas. Anyways Russia has tried to negotiate and split the islands before, but Japan acted real immature and as a result screwed itself out of getting any back.
MS. No modern radar guided or all aspect IR missiles equipped on them at the time, either. MS could only carry R-3S, R-3R and R-13M missiles, no R-23 or R-60. But yeah, totally heroic shootdown. 😉
I don’t believe there will be a single piece canopy though and when it doesn’t appear on the next prototype we’ll simply be told it will appear on the next one and so on, much like the inlet blockers.
Did anyone say the next prototype will have a single piece glass? or the 3rd one? What an empty statement.
