30MKIs without engine upgrade are no way to be equiped with AESA,

Power output of 31F series just can not match the overall electricity consuption of new avionics with AESA radars.

That maybe so ( I am not too well acquainted with the power needs), but I think its rather likely they will opt for more powerful engines at some point this decade, at the least on the level of Al-31FM-1.

And the best one reason should be your opponents in export market may get the similar, or even the better thrust / energy performance that you have today in the near future, such as:

    1. PAK-FA/T-50 after 2018~2020.

    2. J-20 + 155~180 KN engine*2 after 2020~2025.

    3. Rafale + uprated M88 after 2015.

    4. F/A-18E/F + F414 EPE after 2017.

    5. Gripen NG + F414 EPE after 2017.

    6. Su-35 + 117S ~ 2012

Which is still better than what the Russian air force was using at the time and for some time after.

Yes, thank you for stating the obvious. At least the Russian AF wasn’t flying MiG-21 copies at the time.

Let’s get back on topic, shall we?

either way both the MKK and MKI were superior to any thing the RuAF was operating at that time.

In BVR, there was this little beast called MiG-31..anwyays what does that have to do with anything?

Isn’t the radar on the Su-30-MKK the same one on the Russian AF Su-27SM upgrade plane?

Not the same, though quite similar. Both can certainly use the R-77.

SU 30MKK series might be old now but back then they were fairly modern.

Man, I am not saying they are bad, or old. On the grand international scene they are pretty damn advanced. Even today. I am just saying as far as Su-30 variants go, I would not call them particularly advanced.

    @ Type59

…..which doesn’t change the fact that among the types of Su-30s exported, the Chinese ones were “run-of-the-mill”. What is so hard to understand?

So, if a twin engine aircraft is chosen, even more redundant fighters. Meh. IMO would be better to pour that money into getting Tejas functional, and filling the aircraft gap with an indigenous plane. Wait and see I guess, but for how looooong.

Vanilla Su-27 would be too much of a hassle to upgrade. The modifications necessary would not be worth the expense. Su-35 is due to arrive very very soon, the Flanker AESA won’t realistically be available untill the first 48 batch is delivered.

Take Kuznetsov. Gut air wing completely, install SAM, AShM, ASM, Cruise Missile forrest on the deck. Profit.

I am guessing new PESA will be a modified (given center of gravity changes from Su-35–Su-30MKI) Irbis-E? Awesome.

O.k. … they try a better – to say more professional – one ! Baked by proofs.

As I said I know no-one here who can proof any of these claims. :diablo:

Yes, exactly. No one here can prove any of these nonsense claims about J-20s superiority. Oh but I forgot, it is painted a cool black color and is touched up by the infamous Chinese photoshop machine. Totaly superior.

For sure … since it it was their only chance to get anything in terms of a fifth generation type. :p Or do You know another possibility ?
This little thing called the F-35, heard the US would be very happy if India joined.

Ohhh .. running out of arguments .. if there were any ! Honestly, show me a proof for Your claims or be polite .. or better quiet. Otherwise I don’t miss Your posts.
Funny how you don’t consider SHowtimes pathetically amateurish claims to be lacking in proof.

The ball rolls both ways Deino.

Phazatron can’t be happy about this, looks like NIIP has once again sealed the Flanker market.
