“That does conjure up a sight for sore eyes – a crop dusting stringbag!”
Some were used in this way in Canada.
The press really are a disgrace sometimes. ITV believes every biplane is a Tiger Moth and has to illustrate their report of this tragic accident with a completely inappropriate picture. 🙁

Not funny just crass.
Anon. The answer is provided if you read through the links I have already posted, but to cut to the chase the specific you sought is within this brochure: http://www.atacusa.com/pdfs/ATAC_wings_gold_brochure.pdf
ATAC is a well established operator – their website provides a detailed and fascinating insight to their business model and operations: http://www.atacusa.com/index.html
“Unfortunately years of outside display took their toll and it was cut up in front of the “Superhangar”. The Convair soon followed.”
Which is why it is such a shame that the World’s last surviving Ambassador has to brave the elements after all of that wonderful tlc lavished on it.
It was 1978 – see this link: http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/blackbushe-reviews.html
I doubt the full story will ever be told. Just as an example, remember on one visit peeking into a container stacked outside the hangars and it had a Tiger Moth in it – yellow with trainer bands plus unit codes and it was one he had obtained from the USA. I can’t recall the identity but at the time it was not a reported arrival. I remember on one occasion he mistook me for a Pembroke ferry pilot whom he wanted to ball out. Fortunately I had permission from Doug’s son to be on site and after the confusion was sorted Doug roared off in his Roller to find the unfortunate pilot. 🙂
Quote: “The Ju52s, Lysander, Pup and Sea Fury were all Doug Arnold’s, B-25s and T-28s (there were three) belonged to Jeff Hawke, the Dove was was owned by Staravia, a local scrap company as I recall.”
I think you will find that Doug owned one or more of those B-25s at a certain stage. As an example see the details of ownership of the one now in the RAFM: https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/research/collections/north-american-tb-25-j/
Sorry to be a pedant Planemike, but you can’t begin a sentence with a full stop. Sorry couldn’t resist a bit of fun.
Not being familiar with this system I had to look it up and for others who might be interested here is a link to an explanation of how it functions: http://www.ejectionsite.com/yankee.htm
This was an amazing achievement but was quite a while back. The incident which subsequently befell this aircraft occurred six years ago and was covered in posts on this Forum in 2011.

Sorry Tony, but I have no idea what your final sentence concerns – certainly nothing I have asked. It was clear you knew all about eBay as it was you who raised it in post #3. I never suggested that the eBay links, which other members offer up, have anything to do with charity as they are evidently commercial.
I have no particular interest in this topic – I asked questions to try to better understand why it had been posted, the nature of the organisation and it’s relevance to the Forum. You gave your answer in your latest post. Over and out from me, as they say.
Yes, the Vulcan folk have the ex CAF Canberra but it’s on the back burner for now.
Brilliant – now that’s what I call dapper.
