See details about Permit to Fly for Test (for PtF renewal etc) in the following link which might help: http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1413&pagetype=90&pageid=8105
Wonderful to hear this ex German Sycamore is once again airworthy. The last time I saw one in action was when an RAF example visited a Shuttleworth flying day many years back – have some slides – must dig them out.
On the topic of Sycamores, I visited the helicopter museum at Weston a week back and noticed that an example had moved there from an industrial museum in Bristol. I then came across this video of that example being craned out of its prior exhibition space at Bristol ….looks like there was a heart stopping moment during the process, which can be seen at at 0.44 in the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTypmDy90YE

Unless I’m mistaken G-info doesn’t yet seem to show a PtF as issued.
Look like some of the footage at least was filmed at Barton. I think that Tiger was once based at Breighton – may still be.
Many thanks for taking the trouble to provide this update – very welcome indeed. Hopefully this will mean she is on track for displaying or at least visiting Yeoviilton?
Did somebody drive a tug over that right wing support, or is that the way it’s supposed to be?
The supports are deliberately cranked – better seen from this angle of a picture the other one: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/000136645.html

The Wolverhampton Express & Star (local newspaper to Cosford) reported today that severe weather has delayed the loading / transportation of the Dornier from Ramsgate to Cosford. See: http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2013/06/13/dorniers-raf-cosford-arrival-delayed-by-winds/
Anyone know its current status – if still at Ramsgate, off the barge yet, if not then any projected timings?
Tim
Any further news please on the latest situation – when is the aircraft due to be lifted off the barge if not already done or if already on the harbour any news of how long it will still be visible at Ramsgate?

Would love to see her pay Flying Legends a visit.
She did indeed visit a Duxford show a few years back. I can recall to this day some moron in the crowd saying he found it boring and asking why they didn’t do a more aerobatic display with it! Some kind person put a video on the tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B56eeMJK9V8

Are they going to keep it inverted? Is the upper side in a better state of preservation?
Good question – even if the upper surfaces have survived in better condition due to inversion, the shoulder wing surely makes more difficult any prospect of “righting” the aircraft for display, as it would compress the fragile fuselage unless some intrusive supporting structure were introduced? I wonder if it will be displayed in a pseudo underwater diorama in the way that the FAAM dealt with the Skua : http://forum.planetalk.net/viewtopic.php?p=53814

It’s the sole Carden-Baynes Bee. It was flown at least once in 1937 but was force landed and although allocated registration G-AEWC that was never painted on the airframe.

G-ATMI was once named “Old Ben” (not Old Bob). Here’s a link to an image to a photographer’s Flickr site of it when active and you can see the name below the cockpit windows: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53238830@N07/5750838614/
and another at Millom in the following thread (scroll down to post 297) reporting that example as G-ATMI : http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?73349-RAF-Millom-Aviation-amp-Military-Museum-Update/page10
I have though seen posts on other media which (mis?)identified those remnants as from G-OPFW (the cockpit of which I think is at Doncaster). I never visited Millom so can’t verify.

Naive / optimistic view of public interest in Olympic mascots looked like a major contributor to their woes over the year – see: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/business/industries/retailing/article3548825.ece That plus the write-off related to the Italian arm of the business look to be the causes according to business reporting. Hope they can survive and get the supply chain back on track too.

That example is reportedly now owned by the US based FHC and presently in NZ for restoration.
