Any chance we can change the title to ‘Wartime B17 mid air collision’, to stop any unnecessary worrying?

I agree with you – but seems neither the original poster nor any moderator has actioned this – so I too opened the thread fearing the worst!

Here she is seen after yesterday’s test flight.

Here’s a picture of Jon boarding during preparation of the JP for departure for OW.

Here she is in all her glory – airborne for the first time since I think 1963.

G-AKIU just departed Coventry with a Chipmunk as photographic (I assume since it had a canopy panel removed) chase.
Yes I was as Roger hinted in the rear seat of the chase aircraft – I will put up an air-to-air piccie soon. For the record – Jon Corley piloted the Proctor.
It was good to meet up again with Tango Charlie on the day too – who in his own way is contributing massively to the UK vintage scene with his whole family of Proctor projects in progress and in the wings.

Many years back there were photo reports about a project to recreate a Miles Master using the partial remains from some examples and a very corroded engine gathered together at Breighton. There was an article in FlyPast about their plans. A set of Master wings could be seen at Booker in the 1970s but I can’t recall if those items were also in the mix to be used in the project. I guess the project proved non-viable and the bits were moved on.

What’s the story behind the Sabre at MAM?
I guess you’re referring to the incomplete Canadair Sabre Mk.V shown (just visible behind the Vampire T.11) in the photo above of the storage area, rather than the ex Duxford Sabre which is fully assembled and displayed.
The storage area holds the rear fuselage and complete tail unit of a camouflaged RCAF Sabre (23140 if I recall correctly) This was moved to Baginton upon disposal by the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield decades ago. When at Cranfield it was always hangared and the artefact appeared back then to be in good condition. I have some b&w shots I took of it in the College but as my scanner is presently off-line can’t share those at present. I have found a shot someone has taken at at the MAM and shown on the following site:
http://www.eurodemobbed.org.uk/gallery_image.php?s=e&otype=1830&types=937,1534,1830,1831&aircraft=29232
(To avoid any further confusion I should perhaps mention that at one time the College at Cranfield had a complete silver RCAF Sabre 23219 but that got scrapped there.)

I expect Alertken is right – but may also be worth confirming that these weren’t two of the ex Sengalese air force C-47s that passed through/ were stored Le Bourget pending sales by Aero Stock around that time. I recall seeing several stored together around the hangars and one was even put on show statically at a Paris show in the 70’s.

VERY well done chaps …..she looks stunning with that full set back on. Can’t recall the date when she last had the full complement i.e. before the prior power egg and blades travelled to Dubai – when was that Rich?

Although no complete examples survive there is a complete wing spar – and massive it is – on display at Gatow. See link to the picture on the preserved axis a/c site: http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/Luftwaffe/relics/images/Me323_mainspar.jpg
