Duxford Thursday 6th September:
The Amiot AAC.1 / Ju52 was moved onto the grass this morning, ready to dominate the flight-line at this weekend’s airshow:… … …
If the IWM were producers of a West End stage show, this would be like them saying …..well darling, we don’t think much of you as an actress, but as we spent money on that frock you’re wearing we want you to go centre stage and wow the audience again – before you take that redundancy.
BTW guys, superb reports & photos .

Not convinced it’s Gaydon – compare with this aerial view of the hangars at Gaydon when in use (link to picture on RAF Forum). The respective position of the two hangars and also adjacent buildings etc don’t seem to match.

To me it just looks like the probe on the starboard wing of the third F-86 from which the photo is taken?
Already being covered in the earlier thread adjacent on this Forum, see: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=119032
😉
No not quite the end of the Dart sound here – the German freight operator WDL still flies at least one Fokker F-27. It occasionally visits the UK – for example it’s flown into BHX this year. Here’s a link to pictures on “Airliners”:

Here’s the cracked leg – I must say that the constant work the SPT are doing to keep this old girl in good shape is astounding.

I agree with several of the points made by WJ244. It may also be worth noting that it’s not just licence built or developments of Axis types that have been edged out, the genuine Me 163 was released not that long ago.

I know where the Storch is going but I’m under strict instructions not to make it public just yet!
So you want us to know that you know something that we don’t know …..have I got that right? 😉
So that if they find any parts are missing they can nip down to IKEA and get replacements before it’s finally rigged in the dungeon. 😀
I think a naught has dropped off your quote Adrian :o, I think you’ll find it’s actually £0.25M 🙂

Just seen this. Well done Ben. 😎

Let’s end this thread before this silliness gets serious.
What an uncalled for and rude response when, having sought advice, we are simply trying to help you avoid making potential errors in an article. Oh well.
Sadly not a single Oxford is now airworthy and relatively few survive intact.

….and Wireless Operator rather than Radio Operator, Air Gunner rather than Gunner.
Well, I’m writing for an American audience. Some might argue that while writing about things English one should use English usage, but if I was reviewing a Jaguar in Car and Driver, it would seem very affected to write that the bonnet was too short. A bonnet’s a hat over here.
Not quite the same you’re not talking about inanimate objects. When describing the specific roles played by brave people throughout WWII, many of whom are still alive, using correct terminology is hardly “affected” it is simply respectful and historically accurate. I fully appreciate your wish to make material intelligible to your readership, but could I suggest at minimum that you at least make some reference to the different terms applied?
