Why not visit the Midland Air Museum where you could obtain pictures your self as they now have a preserved example on display?

You will be pleased to know there is a resident Wot nurd on the forum and I can say that this was Wot number two with G-APNT being the prototype and also the one that Harald Penrose immortalised in Airy Mouse.
Oh and if you want to fit an original engine, G-APWT did have a Rover Gas Turbine fitted in 1960 (between Mikrons) and was the original Hot Wot. It also became the Wet Wot when floats were fitted in 1959.

Notwithstanding all that I look forward to the pictures.

G-APNT was by no means the first Wot. Cinque Ports Aviation Ltd built Wot 1 G-AFCG and Wot 2 G-AFDS back in 1937 though both were destroyed in an air raid on Lympne in 1940. G-APNT was the first post war example – built when J R Currie (the designer) was by then chief engineer at Hampshire Aeroplane Club.

Going by the dates and your description this may have been LA226 when it was outside of the Vickers site then at South Marston near Swindon (now a car factory site). I’m a Brummie and I’m not aware of any Birmingham factory site at that time which had a Spitfire on show – unless one of the RAF travelling exhibits was temporarily on show (one was placed outside the Meteor garage in Moseley along with the MAM’s Meteor for a few weeks and the Lucas factory used to occasionally have an aircraft on show such as a borrowed Gnat).

Sorry but I don’t think that genuine use by the Luftwaffe of T-6s or the machines used in the Great Escape film (for locations used in that movie see: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057115/locations) have any connection with the T-6s that DazDaMan mentions. The examples depicted were painted up solely for the reason quoted in my earlier post. Hope this helps.

They are owned by private individuals in California and based at Van Nuys. They operate as part of a group known as the Condor Squadron. They only operate T-6 Texans of which they have about 15. They are usually parked up along the fence line of the field. There is a headquarters building adjacent. The group commemorates airmen lost in WW11. A proportion of their T-6s have been painted in Lufwaffe type marks purely for visual effect to enable the group to operate a good guy versus bad guy routine at airshows. They’ve been together as a group since the late 1960s. I visited them once about 9 years ago – all my pics are slides and not readily accessible or I would share them here. The follwoing link is to their website: http://condorsquadron.org/

The fire training school on the ex airfield near Moreton-in Marsh uses an ex Hot Air example (G-BAPF?) for non-destructive training. I wonder if they might consider releasing it if the museum found and funded an appropriate replacement airliner? It may be worth your approaching them. The Viscount is still there – I noted it last weekend as we overflew the place when travelling back to CVT from Kemble in our Dove.

I well recall those days at CVT – wonderfully emotive footage. Thanks to the owner for sharing it and to yourself for flagging the link. I’d forgotten about the classic refuelling truck still in use then.

Could it be LS529 a Fleet Air Arm Fairey Barracuda II built at Heaton Chapel and part of batch c/n F.6320-F.6719? The remains of Barracudas I’ve seen seem to have their airframe serials depicted on numerous components.
