Spitfireman is joined at the hip to me.

I can’t improve his list. erm I can, (1) Cyclists on roads where cycle paths exist (2) Cyclists that think they have a right to 6 feet of road (3) Caravans on the road. (4) Tax, especially fuel tax.
When I’m PM, Spitfireman can be Home secretary with special portfolio of setting up the UK Guantanamo.

Don’t get me started on cyclists!

    1. Riding two abreast on minor roads so you can’t overtake.

    2. Riding down a one way the wrong way and colliding with pedestrians who are not ‘using the force’ (why should they?) (a particular problem in Newquay)

    3. Not using/having lights after dark, riding on the pavement and relying only on the smell of their sweat as a signal other people that they are there.

    4. Fat cyclists wearing lycra. noooooooo!

    5. Cyclists who tow their 1 year old child in a small wheelbarrow arrangement behind them. (although a useful crumple zone)

    1. Metric (even though we had a perfectly good feet and inches)

    2. The washing machine marching across the kitchen during spin cycle.

    3. The RBL for getting rid of their Spitfire and the reason why.

    4. Motorists who tailgate whilst on the phone at the speed limit.

    5. Wasps

    Spitfireman… Don’t hold back, will you! 😀

    Paul

    1. shoplifters ( one once told me “they’re a big shop they can afford it” was then miffed when told they add 8p in the pound to cover the cost, passing his thieving costs onto the customer.)

    2. Burglars. Once burgled I never really got over it, my house has never truly been my ‘castle’ ever since.

    3. Not having an elected Prime minister.

    4. Traffic lights on roundabouts, why?

    5. Privatisation.

    1. Hospitals who put signs next to the alcohol wash up telling visitors to clean their hands so as to stop the spread of various diseases, then ignoring their own advice and spreading various diseases around said hospital in the process.

    2. Over zealous Traffic wardens.

    3. People who drive 20mph under the speed limit.

    4. Daytime adverts on claiming for injuries etc, most people are now **** scared of doing anything for fear of being sued.

    5. Packaging that requires the jaws of life to open (Grrrr)

    oh yes

    1. Going into a ‘fast food’ joint and waiting 45 minutes before being served cold cardboard chips and something that resembles ‘road-kill’

    2. No cure for diabetes

    3. Dog owners who drive 7 miles out to my bit of countryside and leave presents everywhere.

    4. Drunk people – fullstop.

    5. Not having an alternative for this useless goverment.

    you got me started now!

    1. people coming round my house selling me Jesus

    2. Cold callers on the phone selling double glazing not knowing it’s a Grade II listed building. ( I always say yes please, get them to visit, ponder for at least 30 minutes, pick the most expensive set in the range, then right at the end give them a name and telephone number of my ‘landlord’……they won’t bother you again)

    3. Not knowing how to set things up on the computer especially after the site tells you how easy it is and gives you a easy to follow broken down guide. ( I still won’t get it )

    4. People not understanding how long a piece of artwork can take, then after a weeks work offer £30 for it. ( after materials @ 3p ph).

    5. Bullying.

    My first car.

Ford Cortina MkI as pictured the day I bought it summer 1977 and placed in my rented garage at RAF Cottesmore (behind the NAAFI)

Bought before I passed my test, a guy in MT resprayed it to sunset red and did a great job. two months later I passed my test and the following day drove through the centre of London to get home, stopping twice to adjust the points.
I never managed the 200 mile round trip without adjusting them but in those days it could be done in 2 minutes flat so was never an issue. I can remember often tinkering with the engine and (self) learning how it worked which has become the basis of my motoring knowledge today. However, today over 30 vehicles later, owned, military, Coastguard and works/company I can safely say that the vehicle I own today is the finest vehicle I have ever driven. It tows my Spitfire and my exhibition trailer all over the country, never stuck in the snow and extremely comfortable on it’s air suspension and apart from checking the oil and water I haven’t a clue how it works:eek:!!

I briefly looked at buying and running a Cortina as a hobby for the summer but I don’t think I would have the time and the patience to do so.
