Would it have the range? A bit vulnerable over a long stretch of water?
    6,000 USofA/Navy AA guns?

Having read with intrest the various experts disscussing the whys and wherefors of this Sea Fury how many of you actually know what has happened to this aircraft and what qualifies you to say what it should have and what it should be etc etc:diablo:

Nope, I’m not an expert (I even say in my post I’m talking tosh) however there are experts on this forum (they’re usually the grumpy ones)

    welcome to the forum

    Graham,

Sounds like you need to mount a large radially etched perspex disc, with a yellow perimeter band, to the spinner. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is no way youโ€™re going to see a Tu-144 alongside a Concorde, youโ€™re dreaming…

also if you put the two together, the Tu-144 will look like the ugly sister……………………..with a moustache ๐Ÿ™‚

This sounds really picky, but can’t all the youtube links etc all be posted on the existing youtube threads?
To anti youtubers like me its bloomin annoying to keep finding more and more threads to them.
Surely if anyone wants to watch anything in particular they can go to youtube and type in what they want to see anyway, isn’t that the idea of it?
    OK whinge over.

No different than the ebay thread (merged) and that is very popular!

there is room on this forum for youtube links to be highlighted, it will be as popular as the ebay thread, James, stop being grumpy:D

IIRC, it was a demonstration during a press publicity day at the Woomera rocket range to show how far the technology of flying a drone had advanced

    ah……that didn’t go well then:o

YellowAster Could this have been an overshoot rather than take-off ? The flaps in the U.10 were automatically controlled, dependant on flight mode, and, according to PN, were normally only extended during “LAND GLIDE”.

That’s a good point, I’ve never seen the PN for what is essentially a ARTF out of the box R/C model. Slightly surprised the pilot has no control over them.
Do you know if the pilot would have been in a cabin with no visual reference on the airfield?

The other point is that the single seat fighters, and fighter trainers are so much sexier than airliners

    Dunno……………………………….Concorde is sexy:)

After watching it again, i wonder if the crew suddenly realised they had no elevator control.. as when it comes to a halt the camera zooms in on the cockpit and one of the control columns is getting some serious stick.!

Nope, it was a Basil Fawlty temper tantrum!:D:D

    Nice thread!

I remember saving up my pocket money as kid in the 70’s so that I could buy a few during the school holidays. Loved the artwork and stories then – still do!

I still have all the old ones – plus a few ‘new’ ones besides. I’ve been collecting all those I can find with Whirlwinds in them. Here are a couple, including one from Commando.

    Enjoy!

    Paul

PS Does anyone know of any others?

    Found this one in my..cough..collection
