There are all ready loads of ‘ugliest aircraft’ threads going, and the above two aircraft are already mentioned in them.

Don’t mention the Gannet……I did once, I think I got away with it……….

I remember a story of a Skyraider in Vietnam landing behind enemy lines to pick up a fellow pilot who had been shot down. Is this true?

    Military aviation

The Tannoy echoing across the station 0810 Monday morning

“This..is a test..of the public address system..from Air Traffic Control.. there will now be a test of the station crash alarm………………!!”

These tests were carried out by the guardroom, ATC and Operations and we would get to hear air raid sirens, all clear, crash alarms, etc. If you happened to be in a hangar when this was going on with all the doors open, it sounded fabulous.

As a side question, do they still make these carts or are we running on thousands of extant supplies??

Is there a shelf life on them?

Will there be a day when engines will not be started due to a lack of carts?

Expect hallway and kitchen to flood again in the next 24hrs,…….. ready for it.

Ready for severe gales, Spitfire protected with landy parked on wall to stop wing lifting (20 minutes ago) @80mph wind forecast. Wings tied down and tail secured.

Roof (already damaged a few days ago) re-secured and ready.

    Food in fridge

    Bring it on.

Any one convicted and sentenced to more than say, thirty years or, to whole life, should have, in their cell, a small – 18 inches by 12 inches, glass doored wall safe. In the locked safe, floodlit from within, should be a bottle of water – changed at suitable intervals – and a lethal pill.

The key to the safe should be in the possession of the convict and available for personal use at any time.

    John

It wouldn’t work, the inmate, with hours to contemplate his fate would soon figure out that this pill was a weapon he could use against another inmate, warden, or pass on to a family member when they visit for use in another murder. It would be easy to substitute the pill with say a smartie, m&m, viagra etc then spirit said lethal pill away.

What you could do however, is wire the door lock to the mains, so when scroat decides to remove pill…………….:D

Being RAF on a warship was a great experience, was shown around ops and met the guy who shot down a Lear jet with a Sea Dart and I think a Canberra.

The galley was brilliant and just before I left for Stanley on a Lynx, they supplied me with a carrier bag full of (beautiful greasy)chips. We were never served chips and my street cred went up ten fold on arrival

    Thanks Navy

    Canberra being dismantled at Karachi

What a good looking ship she was

Didn’t realise P&O nearly scrapped her in the early 70s.
