Hi All,
Just to clarify. The Victor B Mk2 had a sliding fuel panel much like the B/K1. I believe they changed it to a sliding panel in the BMk2A, SR2 and KMk2 variants.
Go to http://www.lustylindy.co.uk for various cockpit photos, more will be posted shortly of all the varients of the victor.
Cheers
Ollie
Do you have a picture of that Wessex Boy? We heard many rumours from people that it did, but we were blissfully unaware of it. Our Captain Wing Commander (Rtd) Barry Neil said he had it on the ground!
As for flying her again, it depends. Unfortunatly, although everything works and we have kept corrosion at bay etc we don’t have the piece of paper to say that she can fly. We have had qualified engineers say she is quite fit to fly, all it needs is the same as anything…..money! To be honest it won’t happen again, we need all the money we can get just to keep her going in the condition she is!
I think other people who run aircraft will agree, it is the best way to keep them preserved as constant ground power and running keeps all the moisture away, a ground earth lead also helps enourmously!

Hi Gareth,
Check your PM’s 🙂
Ollie
Sorry bout that,
by fully complete, i meant have been put together!
As i understand however there are plans afoot to replace the engines.
Ollie
Hi,
Just for clarification both tornados at elvington are now fully complete and assembled, indeed they are both in the hangar nice and dry!
Ollie
Hmm Albert!
Better get ducking! Althoguh 715 at bruntingthorpe is looking much better now and is a credit to the people who look after her, she went a period of time at bruntingthorpe with little maintenance which may have affected some of her systems. 231 However, and i know i am a bit biased, has every system functioning including all of the avionics, radios and radar.
Although saying this it is maybe a bit unfair on bruntingthorpe they do a very good job with the large numbers if arframes they need to look after and after all both victors will never fly again without large amounts of money a la vulcan and keeping them live keeps the corrosion at bay.
Ollie
When i was there the other week one of them was doing fast taxi runs and engine checks down the runway so maybe they will fly one.
Ollie
Hi all,
The husband and wife team were heather and roger brooks, and they used to operate all of the systems on it bar the engines until….Health and Safety….rose its ugly head. Honestly, its pathetic!
Luckily, they moved up north and roger (who is an ex victor crew cheif) is now our crew cheif on XL231.
Ollie
Hi,
The nose is indeed the victor simulator, i should know i work on it! As well as the real thing. It still works and plans are afoot to open it for public use. (For a price as when you turn it on all the lights dim!!!) after some external restoration is finished. The pan has been built for the victor or other aircraft.
As for the hanger, it may not be the best layout…HOWEVER! It is the only way to get lots of aircraft inside and protect them from the cold! Im not a halifax person anyway, i prefer things with hot air and much noise coming out of the back of them!
Ollie
Thanks for your comments guys. Try and spread the word, would like to get our forums more active!
Cheers

The tower was a ww2 tower with the large glass new tower stuck on top of it like at RAF Church Fenton. The hangars were C type but couldn’t see if they were the full length bomber ones or the shorter fighter ones. The layout was the standard 3 in a loose semi circle.
Ollie
Yeah it is called eastmoor but i can’t find any airfield called eastmoor!!
It definatly wasn’t dunsfold or kemble, i don’t think it would be bentwaters either as that is still in alright condition
Ollie
Hi,
The photo is from a K1 or B1, not sure which, as for K2 shots look on http://www.lustylindy.co.uk in a week when the site goes live. That will cover your every need!
Ollie
Thanks for your support guys,
When up the website will have all the info you ever wanted on the victor plus a gallery and a work diary so people can have an insight to what actually goes on behind the scenes to keeping a fully working aircraft, well…. fully working.
We are also putting together a DVD of this years airshow run, with some very special, probably never seen before angles. The DVD will be on sale through the website and all proceeds will go into a pot for repainting the ol girl next year!
Many Thanks,
Ollie
Victor Taxi Run
Hi All,
Did the run today at 3pm. Everything went fine and start up was accomplished with full functionals before we set off.
We did a slow taxi to the far end of the runway and then after an engine check we opened her up and accelerated to 90kts before closing the throttles and returning to our parking space.
All in all a good day with a 40 minute run….Excellent!
Will try to figure out how to post piccys then will add some!
Hope to see you at the airshow on the 20th and 21st of august for our 140kt Run!
