Any one know if/when YAM will be putting up their 2nd hangar ?

    Bob T.

It’s a problem of funds I believe that’s holding everything back, we desperately need another one for all the exhibits. As for the Halifax being at the front it would be nice however it blocks everything else in so we’d have to get it out every time one of the runners had to come out which would be a nightmare.

Peter, I’m sure they are in fact the same ones be it a ‘tad’ UV faded from years of use… I’m sure someone here will confirm this or not soon enough!

The Red ones are solid blanks similar to the Vulcan ones and are quite heavy! The grey ones are much easier to handle, flexible and actually fit in the intakes a lot more snugly which is why we use them.

    Hi Peter,

Yes it is a shame it couldn’t have been kept running, sadly Channel express removed the RR darts and replaced them with scrappers. The stbd engine isn’t even the right type for the herald, hence why the cowlings don’t fit properly!

The electrics still work however. If I get a moment I’ll go stick a power set on and prove it!

I’m sure blue wont mind if I reply on his behalf!

The engine had a leak from one of the pipes leading to the airflow regulator. When removed the o rings had completely deteriorated. Fortunately thanks to tBag we obtained some new ones and fitted them. Sadly the access to the pipe was not good enough to refit it so the engine came out to avoid damaging any seals by wrestling the pipe work around! Whilst it was out the Inlet Guide Vanes and the bleed valve were exercised as well as they were suspect but turned out to be nice and free which was good. She also had here wheels removed and the bearings greased ready for the taxi run.

I’ll be giving her a run next week and then if all is well shell be off down the runway the week after.

Ah right I see now. I don’t know what that’s for then! It’s certainly not on ours. There’s a possibility it might be a B2 throttle box, so maybe something to do with the bombing role?

@Blue_2 … did you ever manage to get a photo or three of the 1st pilot throttle box for me, and a clue as to what the ‘switch on a stalk’ does?

I dont have any pics of the throttle box but the switch on a stalk appears only on the right hand seaters throttle box and electrically controls the gate between HP open and Shut, the one on the left hand seat is manual but moves if the right hand seat operates the switch

Yes indeed, 974 is sitting this one out due to having a minor fuel leak fixed. Sadly due to the positioning of the engine the engine needs to come out to do it. But thanks to the F1 engine change team from TBAG at brunty she’ll be up and running for May for her run.

It’s going to be a good lot faster than recent years!

Please come down and see the Victor running on all 4 on Sunday, plus the hair dryer opposite of course!

Fine work as always guys, wish I was a little closer to help! I actually like the engine panels being dirty and covered in oil, if you look at pictures of them flying they were covered underneath in grime!

Ah right, in that case no, the outer pylons are not AAM capable and GR4 cannot carry AMRAAM

The GR4 carries its AAMs on stub pylons attached to the main inboard pylons. Missiles will be either The 9L or now more commonly ASRAAM

Lovely video, love the sound of those superchargers!

Personally I don’t like gags round oleos, it’s not that hard to inflate them/keep them inflated and if the seals are shot then new ones can easily be made.

Going round a museum and seeing lots of red gags just seems another block in imagining them actually ever working, but that’s just me. I guess with some bits the fun police have got involved, “oh but what if they explode” and other rubbish!

I’m thinking either victor auto land aerial cover (the one right at the front of the nose that wasn’t used) or the first Buccs had a similar cover over the front wide band homer pods (the early S band ones) on the wings as well before they switched to the final profile for the X band version

I think there would be a problem digging it up, it’s 15ft deep in places as its built on shifting sands…if it was dug up it would wreck the drainage in the whole area, unless you use the worlds largest amount of infill! It’s quite an interesting story about how they built the place in the difficult ground conditions.
