    Eric

No offence caused, and I am sure the owner/pilot will have wanted to make sure all was well. However it would not be the first time, and im sure not the last that the desire to get the A/C home can cloud one’s judgment!
As I say I am pleased the A/C is home safe and all is well 🙂

I find it incredible how contributors to this forum who do not have access to facts have an opinion ready at hand in notime.

Knowing the very careful, highly experienced and meticulous pilot/owner very well I can assure you the aircraft and engine have been given a thorough inspection, and are fully airworthy. Period.

It is amazing that some people don’t seem to realize just how damaging these kind of ill-informed and incorrect comments in the public domain can be to people’s reputation.

The post, “It was just a Prop change” was made on a public forum!!! And it is that statement that was reacted to. I have seen the picture of the strike and it is clearly visable that the prop has appeared to have stopped!
As someone with ove 20 years of experience on 985’s and other vintage and GA engine’s it was hardly “Ill informed”!! i would say that it is extreemly damaging to the Vintage Aircraft movement that the general public think that after such an incident it was just a case of chucking on a new prop! Especialy after the tragic incident at OW on Sunday with all the “These old aeroplanes should be left in Museums” statements that are flying about by the nimby’s!

I am glad the A/C is safley back home and that all concerned are happy with its condition

🙁 I suspect the Lysander and Storch extended stay had something to do with the closure of OW following yesterdays tragic events and todays on going investigation:(

Not the only one to enjoy the gusts, the first Nimrod had an exciting moment. We lost the WW1 element from the programme but that was the only loss, I think. Not bad for the conditions.

Not supprised about the WW1 element, it was very gusty today!

    No, definitely not.
We need better mixed shows. Duxford has cornered the Warbird market. But I miss Biggin Hill and North Weald for all round entertainment, Mildenhall for Heavy metal. Its that mix of warbird, classic jet, modern and aerobatic displays, with para’s, choppers I miss. With interesting stalls for a wander around.
The problem with Warbird only shows is that there are not that many warbirds to go around.
Also Duxford isn’t really a relaxed stroll more aplonk down and watch display. I like being able to browse when something not to my taste is on.
    We need variety.

The F16 at Duxford Jubilee show, outstanding.

BTW why no North Weald warbirdy fly in this year. Rather liked the one last year in all it’s smoky warbirdiness.

Come to Sywell in August 😉

I depends what you mean by Warbirds only:confused: None of the shows you have listed are or have ever been Warbirds ONLY! The Fighter Meet and Great Warbird had other elements such as Dh Moth Club Diamond Nine Tiger Moths, Brendan O Brian with his truck top landing and the then Crunchie Wing Walkers. Even Legends has elements such as the now Breitling Wing Walkers, DH Rapied and Dragon and DC3’s. This year at Legends would you call the Arc a Warbird??? If you want a Warbird only show try organising one yourself, you will find that you need a little more to attract the general public and enthusiasts alike to make it pay!

Error’s aside it IS GOOD to see this era of Aviation in the public domain. Lets hope as we approach the 100th aniversary of the Great War that more of it happens, be good if people understood that something did happen before the Battle Of Britian and there is more to historic aircraft than Spitfire’s!!

Well said there Smith.(I don’t know who you are but we do share both the name and the sentiments.)
I am not being personal rafmatt, but may I respectfully suggest that you read the other posts on this thread (Especially post 11 by kev 35, and last sentence on post 13 by circus 6)
It costs a lot to restore, own, operate, insure and remain competent, current and practiced on an aircraft and its not just to have some didums complaining that his favorite “Looksee” is not attending his gathering. Have a drink of cement and “Harden Up’ and enjoy what you have.

Well said that man, sometimes i wonder why we bother to organise Airshows at all!

What was the story with the one at Corwall Aero Park/Flambards at Helston? It certainly looked very good. Where did it end up and is it on display?

I would love to know where all the Replica’s went from there. Particularly the “Flambards” TV series A/C. Only the Blackburn Mercury seems to have surfaced at Elvington.
