I have a strong feeling that its Scandinavian, since you expected me to guess it, but I honestly don’t remember ever reading about a Scandinavian helicopter.
Sorry, I just had to share this picture.
Helicopter development before the days og health and safty:

This is the Huey prototype. Note that the engine is behind the mast, where it seems to be in front on the mystery chopper.

I think it looks like something eastern…..
I’m afraid I’m going to dissapoint you on the unknown rotorcraft.
Is it Budgie?
I’m not sure John, I didn’t look into their identity. But they are japanese, as some of the other pictures showed Japanese cockpit decals.

You were right the first time 😀
You have control Wout.
That one nearly drove me crazy:o
So we might as well steam ahead and present the next mystery…

Jones S-150.
150hp Menasco engine, so Galdri was right about that.
Damn, that took some searching. Finally found something in a 1939 Burd Catalog 😀
Not even sure if it was the same aircraft, but it got me the name jones. from then it was a piece of cake 😀
can you give some info about the image and the japanese writing?

I’ve often thought about the viability of someone (with deep pockets) building a 99% scale composite version of the DH Mosquito. Built from modern composites and slightly reduced in scale, these adjustments would probably be enough to prevent BAe Defence Systems from stopping such a project. My understanding is that they aren’t that keen on allowing anyone from building an exact replica. The aircraft would be powered by the Merlin and the wings/fuselage covered in doped fabric (as per original). The aircraft would look, sound and smell like an original, but virtually everything onboard would be modern. Just a Suggestion.
Before the ongoing financial crisis, I would have imagined that you would be able to sell maybe two or three to rich collectors (as per FW190/Me262). Now, if you could find a modern commercial for such an aircraft…
Sadly, the idea would probably only be an American project, due to their extensive experience in building using composite materials (Scaled Composites comes to mind).
I have often thought about this too. Surely the airframe would be relativly cheap to produce, and surely there would be a few customers around (world economy permitting). However, it could hardly be considered “back in production”, if a company made a few Mossies.
I agree with the sentiments of the Chipmunk being non-british. In fact it was the first indigenous design of de Haviland Canada.
As for rebuilding them; there are already enough Chippies to fill the marked. Most Chipmunk owners, or potential owners, are interested in the vintage aspect of the Chippie. A newly build Chipmunk just wouldn’t have the same appeal.
There is a Spanish aircraft called a González Gil-Pazó GP-4, but I have only ever seen it from the side, so Im not sure how it looks from the front. But its not dissimilar.
It looks like something from a Tintin cartoon……
Miles was just a short in the dark……the chunky gear…i have no clue
Early 30’s racing bird of some sort?
Did the Japanese, or Chinese, race aircraft back then?
The undercarriage says Miles to me. Perhaps a racing variant of the Hawk Major (Speed six, or de Luxe), even if the canopy is looks more like a Mohawk.
Chinese/Japanese writing seems to throw me off:D
