ARE YOU READING THIS PETER JACKSON?
I think that is the best WW2 RAF CGI going!
As I said over on WIX, sign him up for the CGI on the new Dam Busters film! 😎

do the RAC still own the black Hurricane?
Apparently not.
It’s been sold along with the Buchon.
Who owns the Buchon now?
The codes of a certain Spitfire might be a clue as to who the new owner of both of these is! 😉

Very nice pictures Pen Pusher. 🙂
I see they’ve put wingtips on RN201, so possibly the potential new owner might be flying it in the near future. 😉
But then again, that is just speculation on my part! 😮

Well, I came across this one on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmaX_aM7LMs
Cleary one of those turboprop Dornier things.
Obviously this persons aircraft recognition skills leave a lot to be desired!
But then maybe mine do to! 😀

Funnily enough, the film was on BBC2 on Saturday evening…!
Yeah thats’ what reminded me to post these! 😮
However, when I managed to remember and turn over for it, I did manage to spot the white parts beneath the wing – hadn’t noticed them before!
I only noticed the white parts after a closer look and freeze frame after I recorded it!
I meant to get the captures of the Lanc too (I could have rewound it as I have Sky+!) but sadly didn’t!

Can anybody possibly download a still from a DVD of Operation Crossbow for discussion?
Mark
Here you go.
They might be a bit on the dark side (well they always are on my monitor!) but here’s a few screen grabs from when I saw it on TCM a few weeks back.
I’ve boosted the gamma on one and you can cleary see the white paint on the underside of the starboard wing from the original scheme (aft of the main spar) where they haven’t bothered painting it PR Blue.
The pilot looks very much like Tim Davies to me!

Very nice shots indeed Moocher.
Echo Daz’s comments! 🙂

Thanks for the HU Stringbag.
Wish I could have gone, but at least it looks as if there is going to be a DVD released! 🙂

Paul
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I OR ANYONE ELSE HAS POSTED HERE CONSTITUTES SUCH SPECULATION.
Exactly!

Very sad news indeed.
Just seen the report on the Anglia News at six.
Whilst there’s not much left of the aircraft, it’s very fortunate that crew escaped without any serious injuries judging by the pictures of the wreckage.
Well said Clueless
Ashley – can you lock this thread to prevent further speculation?
And I don’t see why this thread should be locked, as there so far has been NO speculation as to the cause of the crash!

It also very much depends on the artistry of whoever did the flight dynamics for the particular model.
The default aircraft are good, no doubt about it, but many consider the default aircraft as “starting points” – templates, so to speak – from where to tweak to get better dynamics.
There are some non-default aircraft that are take to “as real as it can get”, especially when the developer/modeller has access to the real aircraft, as in the recent release by Eaglesoft Design Group of the Columbia 400.
Yes that is absoulutely correct Felix.
A lot of people don’t relalise that whilst the default Flight Models leave a lot to be desired, the actual FM engine of the MS sims is actually very good for a sub £50 product, and can produce very realistic performing and handling aircraft. 😉
Anyway, I digress.
If you have a decent Force Feedback stick (a shame CH don’t do an FF version of their yoke) and a decent FM, triming shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Whilst you’re never going to get the feel of a reel aircrafts stick or yoke, it ain’t that bad! 🙂
The new FM I did for the Cessna 182 a while back was much nicer in this respect, and could be trimmed nice and precisley. And it was nice not to have that horrible lumpiness you get from the default FM’s Force Feedback!
If you wan’t to have a crack at doing your own FM’s to fully realise the potential of the MS sims, then you should pay a visit here:
Quite simply the best tools for creating FM’s without having to have a degree in aeronautics and the MS FM engine! 😀

Thanks for the reminder Moggy and to JDK for the text of the speech.
As Moggy says (and I know its often the scene you see in movies, dramas etc), but you can just imagine familes across the UK gathered around their vintage radio sets listening.
Quite a day I should imagine.

First class pics as usual Darren.
Love the head on one of the Hurricane. 🙂

Look forward to seeing it robmac.
They were at Dunsfold today also.
Nice tailchase routine by the Spits which was a change.
Lanc was wonderful as usual and quite a few sections of the crowd gave a round of applause during their final pass.

Forgot to add … how about a forum meet in front of the Vimy at 2.30pm (during one of the motoring displays) ?
Sounds fine to me.
And thanks for the pics.
I saw the Hunter en route this afternoon. Snuck in just behind Haslemere and looked like the black two seater G-VETA rather than the FG9.
Also heard the DoB B25 on the airband and saw our very own Melvin Hiscock in his Rearwin south abeam en route back to Popham.
I think that prior to leaving, he called for a run in & break. 😀
