I may be mistaken, but isn’t Spitfire TE311 being funded by the friends of the BBMF ?? I know that there is a group of supporters but the name ecapes me at the moment. I also agree that the number of Spitfires could be reduced, if you bear in mind the number in private hands anyway selling a couple would help funding for the remainder plus reduce maintainence costs. I presume the BBMF have still got the Dakota and 2 Chipmunks .

That is a very evocative picture , I feel quite sad really because I was there and now I’m all grey haired and achy, It reminds me of the more distant colour slide that you have Mark , similar with the covers on.
We will never see the like again. I think I will have a cry !!!

Made a fortune

Duxford school PTA has made a fortune over the past 30 odd years after opening the school to cars on show days. They even have the caravan club park on the playing field. They do a nice sausage roll there as well !!!!!

Did they complain when?

I didn’t know that Wyvern fan. I suppose if they had been around in 1940 they would have told the RAF to move the airfield because of the noise of bombs dropping. How really sad is that. I bet the complainers aren’t real locals.

Confused O’i be

I saw one of those 2002 threads the other day, (Without looking at date). That looks interesting I thought ,and went to add a bit then saw the date and thought ” He might have moved in 8 years ” so didn’t bother.
I just have a look see for half an hour , then my eyes glaze over with the need to grab a spanner and make something.

Am I wrong, or wasn’t the original funding from the “Lotto” people on condition of educational purposes. plus a flying life of 10 years ?? If that is correct how is it educational for school children when they can’t get near the aeroplane to see it or get in it etc, unless their parents stump up loads of money to go to an airshow When this all started I thought it would be on show at somewhere like Duxford where they cater for schools ,and when there were several school parties in attendance, maybe it would make a 20 minute flight. But as it is an old warplane, then it needs lots of maintainence and money, so it’s flying is quite restricted isn’t it
As it has done 3 years then 7 remain, will there be another multi appeal then ?

Has anyone down Yeovil way got access to council records , ?? If they find an order for removal of remains then that will close that chapter.
