Thanks for that info Niall C, I had a feeling there was something amiss when reading a 2004 report from G Foden saying that the Whirlwind was unstable and NOT (Quote) liked by the pilots. It all becomes clear now. I will pass that on to Jim.

I have sent you a private E mail with mine on it . Jim seems to be getting a lot of info, and will pass on what I find . We seem to have hit a wall with trying to trace Mr Foden who flew Whirlwinds in 1941.

I have been in contact with Jim Munro regarding the buried P7048. Yes it was reduced to produce ,and what wasn’t recyclable was buried. The local council complained and it was disposed of. End of story

Hello Whirly people, just to let you know that I have contacted Jim Munro and offered my Whirly build as a backdrop for his filming, and he keen to use it. He is up to his eyeballs with getting this documentary off the ground, and any help you chaps can give him locating movie, and camera gun film would be greatly appreciated by Jim. If you have any virtual models that would help . This Docu will be one and a half to two hours long and will also cover the thinking at that time and other aircraft types.

Shack update

Just a quickie to say that over the past week Doug and others have been putting a bit of paint on the Shack , so she is looking a bit smarter now.
It is hoped to remove one or two wiring panels and fit clear plastic so people can see a bit of the innards. Hopefull y the Lightning will be getting a bit of a makeover in the winter

The gunsight is made from parts of my wifes broken sewing machine ( I didn’t break honest ) plus 3 castor cups ( Chair sits funny now ) The ventilator strip round the screen frame is made from electrical capping srtip, The rudder bar from various alloy and plywood. The pic in the polytunnel was taken at our open day in May, Ihope these pics have been of interest and maybe inspire someone else to make an exhibit on a shoestring

Once again thank you Keith for the publicity for the museum, not forgetting we need £15,000 to buy the land, I will try and do a thread on Phase 2 of the build ,which is in an advanced stage. Rest of cockpit.
