Albert your spoiling my fun 😀
Anyone for anymore?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, go on dig ’em out 😀
That’ll be XG327 pre-production F1. Anybody got any Lightning photos I can ident for you when I get home after 7.00?
I heard it was going to be F2A XN728 the one at Balderton next to the A1 rather than an F6 😀
XR773 has been taken out of service to provide parts for XP693. They dont currently have the parts to have 2 single seaters airworthy at the same time. I doubt that having 2 airworthy at the same time would be much of a priority anyway as being single seat they cant really earn money – handy for airshows though!
LAHARVE,
Sorry the picture at Conningsby that you dated as 1987 I believe to be XS923 just in 1986, XR770 is in fact the first aircraft you have asked me to id ( as it was in 1987 ). The Aircraft at Ben****ers and North Weald is XP749. Ben****ers would have been 1984 and North Weald 1986. The pair at Conningsby are AQ – XR716 and AR – XP741.
Chuck Yeager,
Your photo of an F6 at Binbrook I believe is XR771 around the time of its last flight 23/03/88.
This is fun – anymore 😀
LAHARVE,
For the completeness of your records you might want to check the year on your first photo as XS923 was ‘BE’ with 11 Sqn in 1987, ‘AA’ 5 Sqn was XR770. Also the second photo is XS895 and the third XR754. Hope this helps.
Kukri,
Thanks for the update, please keep us informed 🙂
As for a Lightning flying in the UK without opening the whole debate up again, ‘it ain’t gunna happen’ – not unless there is a major shift in the thinking of the CAA or they can rid themselves of responsibilty, neither are likely. We will just have to make do with the two T5’s and the soon to be F6 in South Africa for the time being and hopefully the T5 in the states later in the decade.
I do hope Fox One stays in the UK but I doubt it will 🙁
On a more brighter note does anyone know how Ronan Harveys T7 XL577 is coming along, at least if Fox One goes we should have another one to replace it.
I’m surprised no ones given that one a parking ticket or a ‘stand’ clamp! Is that a recent photo, if it is it looks as if they are sure looking after it well.
Ahhh…..Lightnings 😎
I had a good chat with the engineers last Tuesday and they assure me it will fly on April 4th, although May looked more realistic, but as Firebird says as long as its safe thats the main thing.
Excellent thats what I needed to know, as always getting information from people who arn’t aviation enthusiasts is always going to be a little inaccurate. Good to hear she’s still with us and may one day fly 🙂
Doh – to slow again, after Steve’s generosity with a Flypast subscription I was going to mention how much the price of a trip in a Hunter has gone up over the last couple of years… 😀
Forget about trays get me some buckets 😀
