Why going to Doncaster?
Is there an engineering training school there
Well Robert Hall meant well, at least we got the picture and the BBMF got some free addvertising.
Is there life to come
Will any of the budgies see life back in the air?
It is a very sad sight for British Aviation.
Lets hope some can be cleaned up and put in some museums.
The series one G-BEJD there is talk of it heading for Duxford but looking at the picture there a re a number of things missing on it as well as damage.
BBMF
The BBC were doing a documentry on the BBMF as some of the filming was done in Jersey at the Air Display in September and the film crew flew back with them, which is not normal for a miliatry aircraft to take civilians on board?.
I mught be wrong but there might be a connection with todays fun and games at Coventry.
With all the work going on with the Lancaster it would be good to put some of that work into the Documentry.
We will have to watch the news at 1800.
Would it not be nice to just keep it in the air?
Sad
With hopefully the oldest series 1 aircraft G-BEJD of the new emerald owners possible giving it to Duxford the U.K. will have a least on Budgie.
We do not know at the moment on what the new owners of the rest of the U.K. budgie fllet are going to do hopefully some will be seen again around the U.K.
To see a well kepy Series 2 aircraft possible going states side if a couploe of commnets ago stating an American registration is being applied to it is any thing to go by.
As we all know there are a lot of non U.K. registered aircraft flying around our skies so lets hope it is not going accross the pond
For many a year I have liked the Budgie as it is well know as the Avro 748 is how I got to know my wife.
Should it join the BBMF fleet?
The aircraft must be past being a classic and must be a vintage type by by now.
Come on Britain wake up and look after the old British aircraft before they all die away.
The Move
No it is not going to Cosford.
The Move
No it is not going to Cosford>
Correction to one of the Doves it should read G-ARHW, as i think G-AHRW was a Vickers Viking unless they have one of those.
Are fire crews experts in aircraft engineering?
Should this not be an observation from ground crew who ever they might be stating that the undercarriage looks down?
Good Job being done in Coventry when she comes out how many years are they expecting to get out of this old lady?
Has Phil the Greek been to Coventry to see how things are going as i understand he is a big fan of the BBMF.
I hope there is a big party when the aircraft come out in her new scheme well done to all keep up the good work there are not to many engineering companies the could take this on as you need the experts for tis type.
Could the Shack be in the hangar from USA for a new spar when the Lanc moves out it would be good if this did happen
Old for New routes maybe?
Dropping routes means slots at Heathrow become available or does British Midland have something up there sleeve and use thses slots on something else or not.
Heathrow slots are valiable so they want give them away.
Would they be in a position to start another route there has been speculation that a Heathrow-Jersey route could be on the cards would the slots be given to operate this route that British Airways held for many years??
Replacement
If the IWM put another Spitfire replica or rebuild this one what they would need to do is put dig holes to put concrete in with rings in them and use these to tie the aircraft down. If the aircraft has no eye loop to do this the aircraft might need to be modified to have them.
This is only a suggestion the aircraft did look good when we visited in November but to put it out side the American part was there a reason behind that.
With Duxford exposed from winds from the southerly half the might have to think about the big aircraft that are parked out side the last thing you would want is one big one turning and damageing one next to it so will they need to spread them out?
Douglas DC6
From the comment redredwine made reading into it are Air Atlantique looking into getting the DC6 back inpassenger configeration?
It would be fantastic to get a ride in it but at a cost to quote £1.5 million to get certified is it worth it unless some one with pots of loot can help is it a nonthinker?
Always nice to see the old pictures but where are some of these now?
We were in Coford last November and it is a very good museum but we need to visit again as the new development the cold war does not open until next month.
Shame some of the aircraft in the pictures are no more I can understand Cosford only wants a military connection and some of the aircraft are civilan but if only they could have found a home some where else I know some have but that aviation and money plays a big past in all of this if only I was megger rich or even rich.
