    Air Atlantique / Atlantic Airlines

They are two differant companies although they look as though they should be part of each other.
A number of years ago there was a management buy out of the heavy freighters which became Atlantic Airlines. The Electras and now the ATPs and they lease in other types like the MNG Cargo F27s due late delivery of ATPs and also they lease in a number of other bigger types.
Air Atlantique is the classic flight side which have the Dakota,s and the DC6s as part of the Classic Flight as well as a number of classic fighters and the likes of the Rapide and Doves.

    Moggy

    Yor are correct

The D.A. is for the pilot or crew.

The aircraft must have a fitness to fly which is normally a C.OF.A or a permit to fly, unless there is a one off dispensation to do this by the CAA might only be a thought on this one.

As of the 15th July dispensations might not apply as every one needs to comply with E.U. regulations from what I make of all this.

    Swordfish versus Vulcan?

Another step forward for British Aviation History.
Congratulations to all with the project to get her airworthy.
Hope to see her at an Air Show some time but not the one in Jersey I would think, there is a lot of water for her to transit her over and she would be to valuable if there was a problem in transit.
Well done to all will she fly before XH558 gets back into the air?

Only a matter of days? or even hours?

If she did fly the tom tom drums in syber space would have been transmitting the news,
Reading the Notam it is there for the next two weeks.
Unless things are 100 per cent the aircraft will not get airbourne so it is just a case of wait and see.
So just sit tight boys and girls.

    Runway Length

Came accross the article yesterday evening.
I understand the weather wis not very good, possible wet and a cross wind.
The runway length there is 2500metres this must be more than ample or is there a reduced landing distance on the runway in use?

    Pilots and Money

She is a great British Aircraft of that vintage as well as others.
Some of the problems are not only the insurance for these aircraft but the pilots to fly them.
One of them was due to retire last year and he was one of the last pilots to display the aircraft I think.
We have had the pleasure to have the aircraft a couple of times down in Jersey doing the Air Display but like a lot of things it is down to money as well as experienced pilots to fly them.
Lets hope we can here some good news on this one.

    Is £25 Expensive

    It might be expensive,
Look at it this way are getting value for the money.
A good day out with several hours of flying.
    A very good static display.
Compare it to other displays around the country, I think you might find out it is similar to a number of them.
The Jersey International Air Display in September is FREE with a four hour flying display, you are able to visit the staic display at the airport for a donation.
The Jersey one is a one off as it raises funds for R.A.F.A and if the committee gets some good sponsors then the display is that much better than last year.
So to sum up are you getting value for £25? If you are go to it. Some people who are unable to drive to some shows have had group charters to get there to name two an ATR72 came to Duxford last October for the day and a similar charter from Jersey to the Paris Air Show last year.

    Wind

As Deano said a number of things come into this.

1.The aircraft will have a crosswind Limit
2.Taxying limit which has been stated as 50kts could be the same for a number of aircraft.
    3. A door limiting speed for opening depending on the type of aircraft.
To name one or two, cargo aircraft with an upwards swing door
The Shorts 360 has a lower limit due to the passenger door opens to 90 degrees from the fuselage, this does depend on how the aircraft parks as well.
Some aircraft might have low taxying speeds due to the type of nose wheel steering.
It does seem at times pilots do get caught out due to the forecast being lighter than when the aircraft is on approach as seen in a number of forums pictures of aircraft trying to arrive in strong crosswinds,

    Great News.

Yes she is stripped down in the back of ARC Duxford.
There was talk going around if the CAA were not going to certify the Aircraft she could have ended up going over to America.
So good news the CAA are humin after all.
All being well an number of us will see her displaying this year.:)
