RE: If Aces High Feezes when first using

Bah. It takes a bloody sight longer than 90 minutes on my 56k modem (connecting at 45.2kbps), even segmented and downloading from up to ten mirror sites. Still, I have it in now. Will maybe have a practise tonight, but most likely tomorrow. Life will perhaps be back to normal next week. I have a mini-xmas tonight, a family xmas on Sunday, and many more things in between. And my daughter has two teeth! Haha. She looks like a 112 Sqn P40B Tomahawk. In the right light. When I’ve had too many G&T’s.

That Superbirds wasn’t mine. Mine has someone called Heather appearing in it, but no aircraft…..

    RE: The Next Forum Get-together

Hows about, we have a few meet-ups throughout the year.

One at Hendon / Imperial War Museum (2 609 Sqn Spitfires in one day / weekend!!!). Maybe head to St Clement Danes, the RAF church, too.

One at Cosford / Midlands Air Museum

One at Elvington / Breighton (609 memorial room, with plenty of space in the donations box I am sure! Foods good too, and cheaper than Kevs Pasty Beans and chips at Duxford on Sunday)

Perhaps a Kent one around Battle of Britain day, taking in Hawkinge, Manston, Gravesend etc, plus Capel-Le-Ferne of course. A kind of mobile thing, with beer and ploughmans here and there.

I imagine many of us will be at Legends anyway, so we can all meet up for a beer or something. Personally I am busy throughout Legends this year – i’ll be there both days, but am involved with something thats going on during the days, and have something on for the evening too. The following day, the Monday, is when I’m aiming to unveil Johnny Wisemans memorial.

As for pitches, I used to go to the Flypast tent (free coffee etc) but have cancelled the subscription now. However, I have found a superior picture taking spot anyway. Up by the land warfare hall, there is far less clutter in the background, plus anything coming in from the right passes close by, as they tend to curve in. I imagine the other end is good like this too, but two Spits racing in at the absolute minimum distance from the crowd, banking slightly, beats the hell out of coffee.

Theres many things going on, and even if we just meet up, a kind of “I’m going here, who wants a coffee” it can be good. Instead of organising something specific, we can RV on any occasion where people are attending something.

I’ll be on the roof of Chadds for the Lowestoft Air Show. Except when I’m actually bothering to be at my desk…

Ah, you know i’m just pulling your leg Kev! I have 5 e-mail addresses at my disposal, so will begin tonight. Would you mind if I use your letter as a base for it? Its very good, and I won’t have time this week to think of one as good.

Kev – is there copyright on that, or can we just send the same message, though slightly reworded each time? Like, once a day someone else sends it. Haha. Get friends, neighbours, parents, the bloke in the furniture department at John Lewis etc…..

Good letter though. Just one question – how many BoB pilots survive, and of them, how many have DVD players? I once had to write “I must not be facetious in class” 500 times, but as I get emailed most days from my 83 year old buddy, it may not be zero after all.

Thats right! Of course! Now to spam his email with many large image files!

It does, of course, go without saying, that Kev35 is also a very nice chap! I could go on…..everyone was!

And ALL of the un-used footage of Susannah York in suspenders for Moggy. He’ll be gutted when he hears about the 8 extra minutes of it that we saw. I never realised they had such steamy scripts back then.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-01-03 AT 10:44 PM (GMT)]Haha. The jacket is because i’m cold-hearted. It was secondhand through the back of Flypast a couple of years back – £150. Hence its too small for me to wear anything other than a t-shirt under it. But I only wear T-Shirts in summer anyway…..

The badge is, of course, 609 (WR) Sqn. I got it here:

    http://www.badgeofpride.com/

Very friendly people to deal with, quick and efficient too.

And i’m downloading Aces High as we speak. But Mrs Snapper returns from France tomorrow with Whipper-Snapper, so I won’t be online dogfighting for a couple of days. I’ll have to do 21/2 weeks washing up instead.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-01-03 AT 10:39 PM (GMT)]Oops, yes. Sorry Robert. I missed you out! Thanks.

It WAS friendly, as seafuryfan said. But difficult to remember names – very difficult. Because you can’t walk around calling (for example)seafuryfan that in front of non-anorak types. But then if you call him by his name (I’ve forgotten already!) then you forget who he is in your own mind. Confused yet? I am! At least ‘Alexis_Lambert’ was easy to grasp in my hungover state. Although I kept forgetting the underscore. Of course Ashley we COULD remember, and even as Rebecca. (BTW, why the name ‘Ashley’?). (Now who was the nice chap in the red top who likes mossie’s? I knew I should have taken a picture of us all
    to put on here.)

Now, how the hell did I miss the coffee? I seriously needed one!

And you can recognise MH434 in the film as it has a little spike poking out of the bottom of the fuselage.

I’ll download it tonight, and give it a try. Good to meet you today btw.

Have you got cfs2/il2? It would be good to have different combats with different games. I have done CFS2 and 3, and IL2 online, and all are different. Good points and bad points.

RE: how fast have you personally been

I took my old Miny City E (998cc) round to the ‘I’ of Ignition on the M25. I estimate 115mph+ – that cart officially did 86mph, but there were special circumstances.

I had alloys, with 155x70x12’s, was in the slipstream of 1 car, had another behind, and couldn’t pull in. It was a long downhill section (not steep, but LOOOONG). I kinda wish I had got a ticket, as I would dearly love to know the real speed.
