whats the horsepower of this one? the comparable locomotive size wise with that setup here is 4000 to 4350 on horsepower.. what does it use for train brakes? we use air pressure set at 90 psi in the brake pipe and make reductions to apply the brakes. also the engine brakes are independant of the train brake but can be blended with the application of the train brake unless you chose to bail the engine brake off. sorry for the dumb questions. although there are similarities there are huge differences.

    robert

HST class 43 the brake pressure is 10 bar the DMU diesel mutiple units run at 7 bar on the main res but the brake pressure is in stages 1,2,3 & emergency.

Step 3 is approx 3.2 bar, brakes run on blocks running on the wheels or brake discs & pads like that fitted to a car but much much bigger!

Yes peter thats a fair point if you can use some parts towards a build or part build then fair play to you.

Im not trying to offend you passionate people i know how much you love and adore these war birds but a time does come when you look at some pile of old metal and thats all it really is pete.

Im a straight talking yorkshire man i just say it as it is i don’t fit in this politically correct world. lol……………..

I’m not sure what is worse, the idea that you really think that, or that you are simply trying to bait people – reaches for the ignore button!

Hi mark, im not trying to bait anybody but i do say it as i want to as i see it.

It’s just a pile of scrap no diiferent if you stumbled over the remains of an old mk1 jaguar parked in a field rotting away with no engine, wheels, floor pan rotted away,no roof, suspension gone it’s only something if you rebuild it and make it back to what it was, as it stands it’s just scrap.

But for some reason on this site most folk think different well thats your choice.

    Oh I don’t know…………………

theft by scrap dealers or souvenir hunters. See it is just a pile of scrap.

That table idea see a cracking idea!

It’s a waste just left there even with a shelter it would be better to do something with it or melt it down and make a aluminum model lanc. lol…….

It’s a pile of scrap as it sits there and if put in a museum it’s still a pile of scrap.

Why not make something out of the metal?

Seriously something could be constructed from it i don’t mean melt it down but build a table or a bench & put that in a museum and use it rather than just as it is.

Im sure you can think of a better idea than a table or a bench?

There is a photo of a dig in russia of a hurricane & a very clear photo of the dead pilot just laying on the ground im quite sure you have all seen the same photo.!

It’s your choice to click on the link as it would be if those photo’s of this aircraft was published on here.

Do a google search it took me seconds to find some one very clear the others not too good you see the tail on fire.

It’s a sad loss for the man & his family but no greater than it is for any death that happen on our roads every day.

Is there a minimum height you can eject? like can you on the runway?

Not true im afraid chap. We have never had the nosewheel off the ground, not worth the risk.

Thats not what someone there told me!

    Some women have loose tongues!!

However your the one to know and a wheel off the ground might just be naughty! lol…………….
