I`m extreamly impressed Tbzz. Many nice pics. Thanks for all the fine shot`s !!
Basing a whole purchasing plan…. which Australia is doing for most of it’s NCW weapons, for something like this, at this time is a huge huge risk. A mixed bag of conventional aircraft and F-22 is a much safer play.
RAAF and JSF has the potential to suck the life out of other defense programs if it falls on it’s face with performance that isn’t up to the customers standards. RAAF is still facing a potential gap if any more risk shows up in JSF. A gap where they will have to retire some of their existing capability and wait with no capability. One has to at least consider, that RAAF and JSF needs a solid backup plan in place if Aussie politicos see any JSF problems start to grow out of the risk comfort zone.
I`ll agree on this one. It`s to early to make any conclusion’s yet, and a backup plan is a good idea. Australia is a large country, witch gives them a large need of speed and range. The F-22 is superior in these points. Rising threats like cruisemissiles attack can be a big worry. The F-22 also gives Australia the deepstrike capability’s they want.
Nice storry you found there, Harry. Thanks!!
30% !!! Sounds a little much in my ears. Pretty nice increasment capability’s the EJ200 has then.
Paintball is cool!!! You certainly get some bodymarks. Once, a long time ago me and a buddy shot at each other with Airsoft guns in their livingroom. We where wearing t-shirts. That really hurts. We both also been shot at by some crazy neightbours with
air rifles. Now we`re talking fleshwounds. Hurts even more… That was the crazy old days…
Well. From offtopic, to ontopic. Curent engine on the EFT is EJ200. Whats the timeframe on the EJ220/230/270???
Again you have to understand RED-Blue warfare. They dont pair two equally competant sets of situations together. Their are occasions when the Blue has AWACS and the Reds have GCI as this is the most likely scenario. Blue has dedicated assets that try and taking out the GCi whilest Reds have ground SAM’s and other defences (which can be as good as S-300’s) ..there are instances where the reds are totally jammed and defenceless and others where Evereything goes wrong for the blues as aircrafts are called back due to simulated technical failures etc etc etc ..overall both RED-BLUE arent meant to be equally competant but simulate various instances that are more likely to happen in real combat. That is why the kill ratios are skewed up a little. We cannot really gauge the performance other then the fact that the raptor (and its team) kicked real Butt…I posted the exact procedure on how blue vs red engagements work at the F-22A thread ( i posted it for flex). These multi million dollar exercises arent meant to pit the 2 best situations at each other and see what comes out on top but pit 2 realistic situations against each other .
I agree. What this exersice really shows, is how effective the netcentric warfare can be with the right tactics and strategy. To those who think that this whole exersice is one big commercial, I think you are totaly wrong. But that the RESULTS in any of these exersice can be used in commercials, promotion, propoganda, advertisement and so on is nothing new, and are becoming more and more frequently used.
Was the decision to buy the F-35B over F-35C based on some calculation that it`s cheaper to buy them, contra upgrading their carrier fleet? Or does the goverment just want to carrie on the VSTVL tradition? There is a significant price difference on the F-35B vs. C. Especially when buying 100 of these. And if the pricetag on the JSF should rise, it might become even bigger? Anyone who got an opinion or some facts around this…
Luckly Norway is a partnerland in the JSF development. That way we does`nt get any
L.O. tech Export version, if we deside to chose the JSF as our next fighter.
Would`nt it be better for the UK, to modifie their carriers, and buy the F-35C, witch would offer better range over the more expensive F-35B.
Would be interesting to know what the F-15s killration where on that exersice. Maybe 120:1 😀 Can those who know the F-15s killration please answare 🙂
The meteor is RAMjet powered isn’t it?
Well if so, that’ll just be the plume of the booster motor needed to get it up to Mach 3 or so to build up the necessary flow pressure for the RAMjet to function.
That plume shouldn’t last more than a few seconds.
Yepp. That sounds right to me.
While the range of the meteor is impressive, it`s really the missiles no escape zone that`s just awsome. Smart move to use ramjet.
I know that my own country Norway, have had 72 F-16A/B blk10 and 2 blk16. Now there are`nt that many left. Many of them written off due to in air enginefailor, hydraulics and flightcontrol trubble. The 57 that still flys have now been in Norwegian service for about 26 years, some are upgraded to F-16 MLU M3, and will be started their upgrade to F-16 MLU M4 this year, while the rest will be upgraded later(12 each year). But anyway. Maybe I should try to stay ontopic…
China can buy the “Draken”. Then they have a J-35…
Wow! That’s a heck of a plume. I hope it doesn’t do that until burnout.
He,he,he!! Maybe its supposed to smoke the enemy fighters out of the skies :diablo:
Somehow I don’t think that’s going to matter much to an AIM-9X/Python 5/ASRAAM etc. :diablo: And for radars do you think a Flanker is going to pull a Cobra out of his hat every time he picks up an electronic *blip*? I can see it now “Watch me make him kill his energy level with my radar and then I’ll slam ‘im with a heater” 🙂 Unless he’s planning on just hovering until he runs out of gas as soon as he gets his speed back up he’s going to be back on the radar. In the meantime he’s put his energy level in the toilet. I think the notion of trying to break a lock by dropping your airspeed below the speedgate is problematic at best. Better to turn off-angle so your closing velocity appears to be zero (if even that is effective anymore).
Yepp. You would be in a pretty desperate situation, if you`re trying to gain some advantage with that kind of moves. Risking to lose all your energy, only
to end up being shot down 😡
