Thanks guys, much appreciated, will make those all being well.
Ok thanks David, never gave that a thought.
Thanks OneEighthBit, appreciate your reply, that does narrow it down a bit, wonder what they were fitted to altogether now.
Thanks for that skyshooter, be interesting to hear.
I remember seeing this gannet when I was a boy on the Cirencester ring road in someone’s garden…I hope one day someone finds the funding it deserves to look after her
So that’s what happened to it, often wondered where it went. Thanks for clearing that up.
Fair play to the guy. He’s raising money for charity, which is never easy at the best of times. If you want a perfect Spitfire replica as part of the deal, you clearly need to go elsewhere. However, for the majority of the population, this is a great idea.
I totally agree with you Bruce, and as you say it’s for charity, not to line his pocket.
Wonderful, lovely looking aeroplane.
Where would be the best place(s) to look for an old, retired D.9 then, Sopwith? I’d love one.
Anon.
They come up quite often in the LAA mag, I’ll keep an eye out for you and if I see anything I’ll let you know. Or alternately you could place an advert in there. avion ancien’s offer sounds like a very good start. Good luck let us know how you get on.
Did anyone by chance photograph the Bristol Scout in flight at Bicester, or if it flew at Old Warden?
“I’d love to own one. The nearest I’ve got to that is buying an uncovered rudder at an aerojumble some years ago”.
They are pretty affordable Anon, especially the D9, keep looking and you will find one to suit your pocket. Good luck.
What a shame, wonder why undercart didn’t come down.
That is sad to hear, I’ve always been a fan of all the Jodel range, they are lovely crisp handling aircraft, with good performance and that’s speaking from personal experience, I’ve owned one for 32 years.
Thanks guys, and yes that’s the thing I was after “wander”, thanks for the link, I’ve emailed them.
Well hope it all went off ok, it’s been a topping evening so I should think ideal conditions for the first flight. Look forward to seeing some pics.
Thanks for your input Geoff and Sabrejet, I’ll have a look for that book.
