Ok thanks Geoff, guess we’ll have to wait and see then unless Mark12 has any gen.
Hi All,
Here’s another older news item if anyone’s interested. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/world-war-secrets-revealed–3965757
I also suspect the link below may have something to do with the whole story being pulled.

So was the wing shown previously, recovered on land or underwater, in which case if recovered on land are we talking about two different Spitfire parts recoveries?
Great thanks for letting us know.
Ok thanks Bruce
My rumours don’t match your rumours!
Time will tell.
Lost me there Bruce, who’s rumours don’t yours match?
So that’s none – sadly – out of 234. The production details, between 1945 and 1954, are as follows:
– S.10 : 30
– S.11 : 50
– S.111: 54
– S.12 : 52
– S.121: 48and that’s despite a reasonable number having been demilitarised and having served with civilian owners into the sixties. But then, the sixties were half a century ago. My, do I feel old!
Thanks avion ancient, that really is a great shame, such a lovely looking plane.
None, seems to be the general opinion.
Well that’s a bit of a ****** if correct
Are there many left guys?
That would be good, I hope so.
Watching ‘The Eagle has Landed’ are we ?
That one displayed once at Old Warden, but crashed in the mid ’70’s. I don’t believe any are in the UK
Yep spot on. That’s what fired me up to ask.:D
Thanks WebPilot, do you know if they have all been sold as one lot by chance?
Can you be more specific please. What part of Europe? 🙂
Well hats off to you Mark12, I first remember an article by you in “Scale Modelling” magazine about the Spitfires used in the making of the “Battle of Britain” film. One of the boys at school had it and I was impressed by it, as I’ve always been a Spitfire fanatic so I sent for a copy from the publishers Model and Allied Publications. In fact I’ve still got it today. Good luck in your quest.:)
Thanks once again everyone, I’ve got some good pointers now. Much appreciated.:)
Hurricane & Texan just called for taxi – departing to Lydd so off to Finland they go I guess
Well that’s good news indeed, glad that it was not damaged. It does look good in Finnish markings, I would love to see it in the flesh.
